TV Tidbits: Joe Manganiello Heats Up ‘How I Met Your Mother’

Joe Manganiello HIMYMHow I Met Your Mother just got a little bit hotter, and finally Hannibal gets a dash of estrogen. Joe Manganiello is back on CBS, a Game of Thrones alum heads to ABC, and we learn the fate of Girls in today’s casting roundup.

Howl I Met Your Mother: True Blood and Magic Mike‘s sinewy specimen of a (were-)man Joe Manganiello returns to How I Met Your Mother to reprise his role as Brad, Marshall’s law school bud and one-time Robin date, for a two-episode arc. It remains to be see what Season 8 will have in store for Brad, but fingers crossed it means lots of shirtless screen time. [TV Line]

New leads: Elyes Gabel (whom we last saw meet a rather unfortunate end on Game of Thrones) will be resurrected for ABC’s Body of Proof. Gabel will play Det. Adam Schaeffer, a rookie detective and partner to another new addition to the series, Mark Valley‘s Det. Tommy Sullivan. [Deadline]

Lady’s night: Forget the US Women’s Gymnastics team, Laura Dern, Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet are the next fab five on the horizon. Girls and Enlightened, two of HBO’s female-driven comedies, will return for their second seasons in January 2013.  [Huffington Post]
