UPDATE: Hold the phone – MTV is denying the reports that they will re-cast Jersey Shore. A spokesperson states that, “We love the present cast, and their summer adventures have just begun. We currently have no plans to recast the show.” Apparently they are already due to begin filming the next season in New Jersey right after Italy. Hallelujah! I was starting to miss the original cast already. It IS true though that many of the originals have their own spin-off deals as we stated earlier that include Snooki and J-Woww moving in together and Pauly D chronicling his DJ travels. Both are scheduled to air in 2012. And yes my friends, The Situation also has a deal in the works with MTV.
EARLIER: Sayonara Snooki! Jersey Shore producers are apparently planning to recast the MTV hit. An insider states, “After this group comes back from Italy and shoots season 5 this summer, that will be the end for them.” Perhaps the motive behind these decisions is to help save the show some money since this cast reportedly makes $100,000 per episode. The source says though “They will leave on a high note!” Is there really any other way to leave Jersey Shore?
So it’s out with the old and in with the new, but this leaves the current gang of housemates to pursue other endeavors. Three of the show’s original cast members — Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, J-Woww Jenni Farley, and Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio — have already signed up for spin-off shows (thank goodness). Snooki dishes, “The concept of our show is pretty much me and Jenni finding a house, living together and just being me and Jenni…we’re so funny together and we like to be silly. It’s kind of like Paris [Hilton] and Nicole [Richie], but like 20 times better and tan.” Yes, those are two girls you really should consider role model material. This show clearly has high standards, but you know we’ll all want to tune it and watch it anyways. The one remaining question I have is – what about Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino? Is he getting a reality show too? Otherwise I fear he’ll have to resort to getting a job as a personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness. Do what it takes to keep up those abs…or else we will have to start calling you Mike.
