Canadian actor Avan Jogia is set to tackle the role of Ancient Egyptian pharaoh King Tutankhamun in a new TV miniseries. The Victorious star, 22, has been cast alongside Sir Ben Kingsley, who recently signed on to play grand vizier Ay in Tut, which will air on America’s Spike TV network next year (15).
Spike executive Sharon Levy tells The Hollywood Reporter, “We are thrilled to work with such an incredibly gifted young actor who is perfectly suited to take on the immensely complex character of King Tutankhamun.”
Other casting details have yet to be released for the six-part series.
Production is due to begin on location in Morocco and Canada this autumn (14).
