‘Wife Swap’ Makers Sued

The producers of hit reality TV show Wife Swap have been sued by a contestant whose spouse was exchanged for a gay man.

Jeffrey Bedford is demanding $10.4 million damages after claiming he was misled by television company RDF Media and TV network ABC when forced to take part in the program with a homosexual man instead of a woman.

Bedford, from Haileyville, Oklahoma, says he was threatened with not being told the whereabouts of his wife if he refused to take part in the show and was prevented from contacting her during filming.

The chief creative officer at RDF says, “As with all contributors to Wife Swap, Mr. Bedford was made fully aware of what was going to happen, including the fact his new “wife” might be of either sex.”

Bedford also claims he became physically and mentally ill following the show, which was aired on UK network Channel 4 last month but has not yet been shown in the US.

The case will go to court in September.
