Star Trek legend William Shatner has been hailed by the television industry for his inspirational performances by joining the Academy of Television Art & Sciences Hall of Fame.
The sci-fi star has notched up more than 50 years in front of the camera, but is best-known as Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the starship USS Enterprise.
Will & Grace director James Burrows will also be inducted, alongside former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw and Regis Philbin.
In a statement academy chairman Dick Askin praised the way all have shaped the small screen, and hailed their work as an example to all aspiring TV stars.
The induction ceremony date has yet to be confirmed.
