Synopsis

A retrospective of Wisconsin's first 150 years as the nation's 30th state. The program highlights the turbulent battle between early settlers and the great native Chief Blackhawk and Wisconsin's part in the underground railroad. Some of Wisconsin's actors bring the state's history to life by reading from pioneer letters and diary entries, as well as the writings of native sons and daughters such as Chief Blackhawk, John Muir, Aldo Leopold, August Derleth, Ben Logan and Laura Ingalls Wilder.
