And the offer makes sense. After letting former host and all around square Steve Jones make his merry way back to England, the series was in dire need of a host with the most. As we’ve said time and again, X Factor’s ratings didn’t hit anywhere near creator and judge Simon Cowell’s 20 million viewer projections. Bringing in someone as charismatic, handsome, wonderful, talented, and amazing as Criss is just about the best move Fox could make. Clearly a host who could do a little song and dance along with his stage-corralling duties would help the series up the ante.
Unfortunately for fans of all things Criss, he declined the offer. Fangirls will be relegated to enjoying his Glee performances, bootleg YouTube videos of his performance in Broadway’s How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, and his new movie Imogene with Kristin Wiig. Criss reportedly declined the offer due to his hectic schedule.
And though his busy schedule has him popping up all over the place, there are sure to be a few broken hearts over this squashed dream. Would you be more excited for The X Factor if Criss was the host?
