Rory and Dean have a tough time being alone together due to the distance between their residences, which is complicated by the fact that Lindsay also has use of the car. Rory gets a sinking feeling, however, when Dean gives the impression that his choice to be with her was made for him only due to Lindsay discovering her letter. Meanwhile, Lorelai and Sookie decide to help Jackson run for local office against Taylor, while Lane becomes smitten with her bandmate Zach.
