Jack, Kate, and Sawyer have been drugged and have had blood taken from them. They each wake up in a different area with unique circumstances to deal with. Jack wakes up in an indoor cell and meets Juliet, who wants to ask him questions. He has flashbacks about separating from his ex-wife and confronting his father. Jack fails at trying to escape. Sawyer wakes up in a zoo-like cage, having to act like a lab animal to get food. He meets a strange young man who is also locked in a cage, trying to escape. Kate awakes in a locker room, asked to shower and have breakfast with the man formerly known as Henry Gale. She is told she is about to go through some very unpleasant experiments. Then, she is put in a cage across from Sawyer.
