Mulder continues to search for more information about his sister, Samantha. He discovers that she was actually taken by the Cigarette Smoking Man, where tests were performed on her at an Air Force Base along with Jeffrey Spender. After she ran away once, spirits came and took her away, effectively killing her, but sparing her from an otherwise horrible death at the hands of the Cigarette Smoking Man's experiments.
