Episode 1. It Takes Two, Baby (Air Date: 09/21/1998)

Annie gets frustrated over her weight gain due to the pregnancy. Matt moves into an apartment with three women.

Episode 2. Drunk Like Me (Air Date: 09/28/1998)

Matt and Kevin try to join a fraternity, but Matt decides against it. During initiation Kevin nearly dies of alcohol poisoning.

Episode 3. Cutters (Air Date: 10/05/1998)

Mary doesn't think much of Lucy's new friend, but Lucy thinks she is just jealous. Matt gets his first taste of rejection from a girl.

Episode 4. The Legacy (Air Date: 10/12/1998)

Simon feels responsible for the dismissal of a teacher, and Mary cuts a class for the first time.

Episode 5. ...And A Nice Chianti (Air Date: 10/19/1998)

Eric consoles a recently divorced woman who is also still dealing with the death of her son three years earlier. While helping someone out on the highway, Matt is arrested for auto theft.

Episode 6. And The Home Of The Brave (Air Date: 11/02/1998)

Annie brings home a homeless WWII vet on the day of Grandpa and Ginger's wedding. Matt and Mary become stranded on a remote road.

Episode 7. Johnny Get Your Gun (Air Date: 11/09/1998)

When Simon is threatened with a gun at school, Eric confronts the boy's father and finds out that guns are part of the family mind set. Ruthie becomes obsessed with a violent video game. Matt doesn't like that Mary is going on a date with Shana's troubled brother.


A reunion of Eric's old band buddies shows Eric how distant he has become from his free-spirited friends. Matt and Mary are offered drugs from some of their friends.

Episode 9. Let's Talk About Sex (Air Date: 11/23/1998)

After finding out that Jordan is not a virgin and that Mary's sleep overs with her basketball team also include boys, Lucy considers losing her own virginity.

Episode 10. Here Comes Santa Claus (Air Date: 12/14/1998)

The family make their Christmas gift exchange in which they must perform some service, or give away something they already own. Eric and Annie separately try to help a pawnbroker.

Episode 11. Nobody Knows... (Air Date: 01/11/1999)

Mary uses deceit to get her driver's license. Simon discovers a secret pain that Deena carries. Matt is forced to betray the confidence of his aunt.

Episode 12. All That Jazz (Air Date: 01/18/1999)

While at the hospital, Annie and Eric run into the doctor who almost killed Matt. Heather tries to avoid Matt.

Episode 13. The Tribes That Bind (Air Date: 01/25/1999)

Chaos reigns as the family prepares for the two new bundles of joy, and everyone is concerned about how the twins will change their lives. Eric and Preacher Morgan face racism at a restaurant.

Episode 14. In Praise Of Women (Air Date: 02/08/1999)

In the middle a difficult labor, Annie defiantly refuses to have a C-Section and stuns Eric when she turns to Dr. Hastings for a second opinion. Matt can't bring himself to donate blood until he sees himself through Simon's eyes.

Episode 15. It Happened One Night (Air Date: 02/15/1999)

Eric and Annie, who are expecting help with the twins, discover that the kids have abandoned the house. Simon is busy studying, Matt has a new job, Mary is out on a date, Ruthie has run away and Lucy is stuck doing all the chores.

Episode 16. Paranoia (Air Date: 02/22/1999)

Eric suspects that he is going to be replaced with a new minister when the church deacons start acting strangely. He also learns that Jimmy Moon may be into drugs.


In order to be of more help with the twins, Eric starts counseling parishioners in his home study. He tries to help a married couple when the husband suddenly wants a divorce. Matt thinks about joining the army.

Episode 18. We The People (Air Date: 03/15/1999)

Eric counsels the President of Matt's university who was caught in an affair with a grad student. Matt is at odds with another student who wants the President fired over the scandal.

Episode 19. The Voice (Air Date: 05/03/1999)

Eric comes to the defense of a custodian who claims to be hearing messages from God. Annie is desperate to get an evening away from the twins, and Matt suspects his girlfriend is cheating on him. Mary thinks about working the country club party.

Episode 20. All Dogs Go To Heaven (Air Date: 05/10/1999)

Eric is asked by two parishioners to have their dog put down. Matt's dedication to look out for Mary is tested when he catches her making out in a very unlikey place.


Eric worries about how Matt is dealing with Heather's upcoming wedding. Matt ends up barging in on the wedding and Heather leaves her fiance at the altar. Eric's sister forces him into an encounter with Dr. Hastings.


Eric tries to deal with the fall out from Matt's disruptive actions at Heather's wedding ceremony. Mary, Lucy and Simon learn the repercussions of forbidden love.
