Episode 1. Premiere (Air Date: 09/23/2003)

Cate waits for the results of a prenancy test while the children chime in on how another child would be a hinderance. Kerry suddenly becomes popular while Bridget social status plunges.

Episode 2. Sex Ed (Air Date: 09/30/2003)

Cate fills in as the sex ed teacher in Bridget's class. Meanwhile, Paul and Kerry are embarrassed with each other after seeing a sexually explicit scene in a foreign film.

Episode 3. Donny Goes AWOL (Air Date: 10/07/2003)

After Bridget breaks up with Donny in a video message, he goes AWOL.

Episode 4. Goodbye (Air Date: 11/04/2003)

The family grieves over the loss of Paul. Cate's parents arrive to help with the grieving process.

Episode 5. No Right Way (Air Date: 11/11/2003)

Bridget and Kerry's reaction toward going back to school after their father's death throws Cate off track mentally.

Episode 6. What Dad Would Want (Air Date: 11/18/2003)

Rory tries out for the basketball team because Cate tells him that it would have made his father proud; Peace ends between Kerry and Bridget when Bridget accidentally destroys Kerry's collage honoring Paul.

Episode 7. The First Thanksgiving (Air Date: 11/25/2003)

Cate cooks a special Thanksgiving dinner; Bridget and Kerry decides to spend Thanksgiving with their boyfriends.


Bridget lands the lead in the school play about Anne Frank, but quetions her acting skills; Rory develops an obsession with a dummy named Skeevy.

Rory and Jim join the YMCA; Rory gets a crush on a yoga instructor; Jim punches a guy for making a lewd comment about Bridget.

Episode 10. Get Real (Air Date: 01/13/2004)

Cate's nephew visit to pay respects to Paul and sends the household into an uproar.

Episode 11. Consequences (Air Date: 01/27/2004)

Rory tries to imitate CJ's path to coolness by stealing a police dog. The dog, in turn, sniffs out pot in Kerry's bag. Bridget wants to ride on her boyfriend's motorcycle sans helmet.


Bridget starts to fall for her shy tutor as Valentine's Day approaches. Kyle finds a unique approach to Valentine's Day. Jim and Cate advise Rory on his Valentine's Day gift for Missy. CJ ends up in Canada.


Bridget thinks she may have competition for Jeremy's affections. Jim and CJ have to share a room after Jim's accident sends CJ's van up in flames.


Bridget's relationship troubles with Jeremy are compounded by the arrival of her ex Damian. Kerry worries about not being allowed to dance however she wants at a school formal. Jim develops feelings for a PTA board member. CJ and Rory cause trouble over the internet.

CJ and Jim attempt to bond as Cate pursues her near-forgotten dream of being a professional singer. Bridget becomes a blonde.

Episode 16. Mall in the Family (Air Date: 03/16/2004)

One of Kerry's first tasks as a mall food court assistant manager is to fire her grandfather. CJ catches Bridget trying to sneak into a movie without a ticket. Cate finds out that Rory has been using the internet to sell family items with a mark-up.

Kerry learns that Rory has a crush on her frined; the girls see Cate at a saloon with a stranger while they are visiting their grandmother.

Bridget and Kerry blow off their trip to their grandmother's when they see Cate in the arms of Artie. Rachel confesses her true feelings for Rory.

When Cate discovers that Bridget has attended C.J.'s college keg party, she grounds Bridget and banishes C.J.

When Bridget gets in trouble at school, Cate must speak with the principal, an old schoolmate of hers.
