Only thirteen contestants continue on to Hollywood from Houston.

117 contestants are quickly trimmed down to 87 during the first Hollywood auditions.

As the final two contestants, Diana DeGarmo and Fantasia Barrino perform their best in hopes of wooing the judges and audience.


Fantasia Barrino beats out Diana DeGarmo for the title of "American Idol."
