Hank is late for picking up his 12 year old daughter Becca. Hank's one-night stands continue to get him in trouble. Becca sneaks out to a party and Hank and her mother, Karen must go search for her. Hank admits to Karen that he wants to get back together, but she tells him that she's moved on and is engaged.
Hank starts his blogging at Hell-A Magazine. Karen sets Hank up with her friend Sonja and during dinner Becca reveals how Hank met Karen.
Todd Carr turns up at Hank's book signing claiming that Hank is defaming him. The two get into a fight and Hank gets arrested. Bill comes to bail Hank out and in return asks Hank to continue the blogging job.
Meredith wants to take their relationship to a deeper level and invites him to escort her to an environmental fundraiser. Hank drops off at gift for Becca at Karen's and learns that Karen will also be attending the fundraiser.
Bill asks Hank to speak to Mia's creative writing class. Hank reluctantly agrees. Becca has a crush on her guitar teacher, but it ends in heartbreak for Becca.
Hank meets a sexy surfer at the market and brings her home for a night of vintage rock and sex. Hank is brought back to reality the next morning by Mia who needs more of Hank's writing to use in her class.
Hank tries to prove to Becca that there are happy endings by getting Karen a job and setting up a dinner for the three of them. Meanwhile, Charlie and Marcy try a threesome with Charlie's assistant, Dani and Mia gets herself into trouble with her teacher.
When Hank's father dies, he has a hard time dealing with the loss and turns to a hooker to help him numb the pain.
Hank brings Karen a new manuscript after his father's funeral. Charlie gives him a production bonus check. Charlie tries to patch things with Marcy while Bill and Karen worry about their upcoming wedding.
Hank gets beat up in the boxing ring by a girl from his past that he doesn't remember. Karen and Marcy go for a girl's night out. Dani meets with Mia about her novel.
While Karen is being fitted for her dress, Becca drops the news that she wants to live with Hank. Hank discovers that Mia has been trying to peddle his work, but when he confronts her, she threatens to reveal their one night stand. After Becca moves in with Hank, Karen stops by and wonders if maybe that's where she belongs.
Hank struggles to deal with Karen's wedding to Bill. Bill tells Mia that he's not going to let her book be published.
