Through Ruthie, Lodz reveals to Lila how he died and that he plans to return to life. Brother Justin finds out that Iris is planning to hurt him, but feels he is stronger than she once he decapitates Henry Scudder. Iris comes to realize that Sofie is Brother Justin's daughter from the time she witnessed him raping a gypsy woman. Libby is unable to keep Ben's healing power from her mother, but her mother thinks she's making up lies.
Management reveals his identity as Lucius Belyakov, the Russian soldier Ben has been seeing in his dreams, and forces Ben to search for Henry Scudder. Jones manages to rescue Sophie from the fire in her bus, but Appolonia dies in the blaze. Justin's radio show reaches a large audience as he begins to plan for the next stage of his mission. Samson and Jones dispose of Lodz's body, but Lila keeps inquiring about what happened to Lodz.
Ben seeks out a former associate of Scudder; Justin and Iris take on a new servant in their house; Sampson threatens to replace Stumpy; Sofie finds comfort in doing manual labor.
Ben searches for the next link in his quest to stop Brother Justin and turns to Sofie for answers, but she refuses to read his tarot cards. Dolan continues his investigation into the arson death of the children at Justin's church. Ruthie finds herself visited by a mysterious shadow as a result of her death and resurrection.
Ben's relatives reveals dark secrets about their family. Balthus bears witness to Justin's abuse of power with his cleaning ladies. Sofie tries to work herself to death, having not come to grips with her mother trying to kill her.
Ben meets the man who created his father's face mask and ends up drugged by him. The artist sends Ben's face mask to Justin as a gift. Ruthie shares her visions of the dead with Sofie, who then realizes that her mother is still around. Sofie reads Ben's tarot cards once again and he has a vision of an atomic bomb. Dolan pushes Justin to convince Iris to take the blame for burning down the orphanage.
When Ben comforts a frightened Sofie, their relationship takes an intimate turn. Samson helps out the survivors of the Daily Brothers Circus fire, one of which is his ex-wife Sabina. Brother Justin frames Tommy Dolan for arson after Iris finally repents for setting the fire.
Ben follows his visions to a hotel where he finds his father. When he returns his father to talk with Management, a fight results and Ben ends up killing Management. Brother Justin refuses to cave in to the demands of the church to process his sermons through their committee. Sabina distracts Samson with her affections.
Ben regains Samson's trust after showing him that he can heal the injured and possesses some of Management's powers. Ruthie sees Stroud takes Scudder and thinks she has seen another ghost. Libby and Jones marry, but when during a tense dinner with his new in-laws, an accident on the midway seems to be pinned on Jones' shoulders. Sofie goes to work for Brother Justin as his new maid.
Jones is tarred and feathered, then left for dead with Libby by his side. When Ben finds them and saves Jones. Iris decides to stop Eleanor from telling others she saw the Devil in Brother Justin by killing her.
Ben and Jones arrive at New Canaan to assasinate Brother Justin, but Iris stops Ben first. Iris agrees to let Samson and the carnival set up camp in her backyard. Lila holds a meeting with the other carnies to decide to leave and as a result finds out that Management no longer exists. But before they can leave, Jones shows the others that Hawkins healed him.
Brother Justin realizes that Sofie was part of the carnival and locks her away. While imprisoned, Sofie is visited by her mother's ghost and finds out not only that Brother Justin is her father but that she will be the next evil.
