Phoebe and Paige try to ease Piper and Leo's sadness over losing Chris by forcing them to attend a Hindu wedding, during which the two take on the forms of Shakti and Shiva, god of destruction and goddess of love, who wish to consumate.
A student at the Magic School almost undoes all of Paige's efforts to save the school when Lady Godiva and the evil Lord Dyson are inadvertently summoned. The Charmed Ones utilize Leo's help in stopping Lord Dyson from murdering Lady Godiva. Phoebe continues to have disputes with Les when she offers him her view that he is unfit to dole out advice to women and anonymously puts him to the test with a letter.
Paige and Phoebe summon Grams for Chris' wiccaning, but her effort to stop the sisters from fighting inadvertently reverts them back to squabbling teenagers. Meanwhile, Leo's visit to a seer tells him that the one who sought to harm Wyatt is somehow linked to him, while Phoebe experiences a young-girl infatuation with Les while at an awards banquet.
Paige inadvertently comes into contact with Captain Black Jack Cutting, an 18th century pirate who is cursed with the ability to age, but never die, and wants to locate the Fountain of Youth to stop the process.
Paige casts a spell that will keep all deaths from occurring in order to stop a killer demon named Sirk. The Angel of Death, furious at the mess Paige has made, takes Piper so she can help him restore the balance, but Piper discover's Phoebe's name on the list of people to be claimed by Death. Meanwhile, Phoebe confronts her attraction to Les, while Agent Brody admits that he has been trailing the Charmed Ones for a very long time.
The Charmed Ones are assigned a different Whitelighter after the Elders begin to distrust Leo, but Leo is blamed for a savage attack that befalls the replacement Whitelighter.
Agent Brody solicits Paige's help when he tries to determine the perpetrator behind a series of incidents, and discovers that the demon Sarpedon is stealing guardian angels and amassing an army of them to protect him from a mounting threat.
Paige and Agent Brody investigate the foul play at a magic school and inadvertently end up inside the pages of two students' uncompleted novel from two decades ago.
Leo decides to forego the advice he is given to keep his Avatar status a secret from Piper. Paige and Phoebe ask Agent Brody for help, and his response turns out to have terrible ramifications for them.
Leo is told by the Avatars that he must guard the Seer's life, as she holds the key to ridding them of the demons, and the Charmed Ones begin to reconsider their feelings on Leo's position as an Avatar after the Seer shows Phoebe a glimpse of a demon-free future.
Piper agrees to swap her powers with Phoebe, despite her mistrust of the Avatars' intentions, in order to see Phoebe's vision of an ideal future. Their uncertainty prompts the demon Zankou to seize an opening for attack, which puts the Charmed Ones' powers in the hands of regular civilians and promptly creates chaos.
The Avatars inform the Charmed Ones that the world must be put into a slumber which will kill all those demons who remain before they can turn it into a Utopist paradise. A skeptical Agent Brody tries to reach the Elders to stop the changes from occurring, but Zankou gets to him first. After placing a spell on the Charmed Ones which would make them suspicious too, however, Brody kills an Avatar and must face severe consequences.
Despite the Charmed Ones' acceptance of their new world, Leo discovers that the Avatars plan to decide on everyone's fate in order to keep the Utopia running smoothly and teams up with Zankou to stop them. When the effort costs Leo his life, Piper, Phoebe, and Paige realize what the Avatars have planned and help Zankou turn back time to restore the pre-Utopian world. The course of Leo's fate, however, now rests in the Elder's hands.
Paige reviews the candidates for a new Magic School professor, but one possible hiree, Drake, is a former demon who wormed his way into human form through dealings with a sorcerer.
Inspector Morris believes his friend, Mike, may be possessed. When Paige, Phoebe, and Drake try to examine the possible causes, they discover the site near Mike's workplace that once housed a cabaret nightclub that burned over a century ago.
During the wait for Leo's fate to be decided by the Elders, a worried Piper is put into a coma after a demon attack. While hovering between this world and the other side of death, she finds old friend Cole, who has come to help her and Leo.
When Zankou tries to obtain the Nexus which is inside the Charmed Ones' house and let loose the Shadow, he lures the women out of the house by ordering an attack on Leo.
The Charmed Ones must rush to stop Pandora's Box from being unleashed upon the world by Katya, the shapeshifting demon. Phoebe and Piper try to track down Hope, who is the only one who can return all the evil back into the box, but find they must protect her from Katya's wrath. Meanwhile, Leo takes on the home care of Wyatt, while Paige goes on her first whitelighter mission.
A sorceress named Imara casts a spell on Phoebe which causes the two to switch bodies and leave Phoebe's soul trapped in the Underworld. With Phoebe's powers in tow, Imara begins to wrest control of the Underworld by attacking Zankou and planning the demise of the Charmed Ones.
The Charmed Ones try to stop Baby Wyatt's friend, who they thought was imaginary, the demon Vicus, from bringing him down the path of evil. Piper uses a spell which allows her to decipher what Wyatt says, but instead, somehow Wyatt's future self is once again brought back from the future.
Zankou takes advantage of Phoebe's guilt over watching a former classmate die and subsequently return to haunt her in order to try and snag the Book of Shadows.
Phoebe's power of premonition is stolen by Zankou, who uses it to anticipate the Charmed Ones every move. The only way to stop him would mean sacrificing themselves.
