When Pete starts his job as batboy for the New York Empires he gets caught up in a player's steroid scandal and is forced to make a tough decision.

When it hits the press that Dean might be traded from the Empires, Pete gets help from Dean's fan club and starts a petition to keep Dean in New York; Lynne considers a real estate job in New Hampshire.
When upper management decides to change how the clubhouse is run, Lou walks out on his longtime post as equipment manager. Soon, another manager, Clyde Austin, is brought in, but in support of Lou Pete and the rest of the bat boys try to sabotage Austin's efforts to run an efficient clubhouse.
