Each mother-daughter team must choose a name and perform a short presentation for the judges. The team called the "Reigning A's" is eliminated.
Ten teams remain and begin to form cliques and alliances in the house. The teams must compete in a swimsuit competition, and the daughters are forced to select swimsuits for themselves and their mothers. The elimination challenge is to create a one-minute fitness routine, and Alana and Annette are eliminated.
After secretly listening in on a conversation, one mother confronts the group, resulting in a screaming match that only beauty queens can deliver. This week's challenge finds the mother/daughter duos receiving makeovers, followed by a pageant photo shoot. At the de-sashing ceremony, the "Tomboy Queens" are sent home.
An emotional trust exercise between the mother and daughter teams leads to tension and tears, causing one mom, Patty, to put the smackdown on her daughter Laura for being spoiled and selfish. But during the competition, which tests each team's ability to highlight a talent they can both perform for the judges, Laura and Patty impress the judges with their music. Nicole and Jill are eliminated after the hula hooping routine fails to impress.
The contestants learn that there are six different kinds of smiles: swimsuit, evening gown, I've got a secret, natural, interview and closing smile. Tensions mount between the warring factions in the beauty pageant house.
Mother/daughter pairs keep the high heels in the closet and put on the steel toes for a day of getting dirty - with Habitat for Humanity. The ladies must take their pageant charm into the public and deliver soap-box speeches on varied topics. Tenia and Angela are eliminated, but instead of desashing themselves, they make a mad dash for the exit and refuse to cut their sashes.
As the remaining teams prepare for the pageant finale, they're instructed to host a V.I.P cocktail party for surprise guests at the mansion. The mother/daughter combos try to keep their contributions, appearances and social graces under control, until the mystery guests arrive and turn everything upside down.
The final four mothers and daughters appear in front of a live audience. In front of host Jack Wagner, one mother passes out on stage while another team is shocked during a surprise de-sashing ceremony midway through the show. During the speech challenge, the teams receive an unexpected curve ball about their prize money. One mother/daughter team will be crowned and win $100,000 and a fabulous pair of tiaras.
