First, after breaking into a liquor store in Fort Worth, Texas, a burglar named Larry Curtis Bynum finds himself unable to escape, then, outside a California courthouse, lawyer Jerry Curry narrowly survives a shooting by literally dodging bullets from behind a tree.


At 7 a.m., at a well known party spot just half a mile outside of Poplar Missouri, police found a family pick-up abandoned. Officers followed a trail of blood from the truck, down a rutted dirt track 250 feet, to the Poplar River.

There was John Carlin the Third, a former steelworker from New Jersey, Scott Hilke, a traveling salesman from California and Kent Leppink, a lonely fisherman who was making a fresh start after leaving the family business in Michigan.

In one of the most significant terrorism cases since 9/11, a British jury last week convicted three British citizens, accused of plotting to blow up trans-Atlantic airliners, on a charge of conspiracy to murder.


First, Tom Wales, a federal prosecutor for 18 years, was murdered one month after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks while in his home. Was the killer was someone Wales had put behind bars? If so, Wales would be the first U.
