Episode 1. Big Animal Vet (Air Date: 01/08/08)

Mike joins with a big-animal veterinarian in Montana, and his first case is a llama with an abscessed tooth. Also: working in a Georgia barbecue house; digging up buried oil tanks in New Jersey.


Mike Rowe works with a river-barge demolition team and melts down scrap steel into molten metal in St. Louis, where he experiences temperatures unlike anything he's felt before.

Episode 3. Cave Biologist (Air Date: NA)

Mike Rowe crawls through the muck with a cave biologist in Hidden River Cave in Kentucky, searching for a new species of beetle; and braves handfuls of mucous fishing for slime eels, also known as hagfish, off the coast of Maine.


Mike learns how to make and fire bricks by hand in South Carolina, then heads to Oregon to try his hand at farming cranberries in an artificial bog and making cranberry jam.


Mike digs in Death Valley to prepare for a gem-and-mineral show; rescues injured birds from a salt lake; and works at a rice plantation in South Carolina.

Episode 6. Tight Spaces (Air Date: NA)

A retrospective on past jobs that required getting into tight spaces.


Mike Rowe recalls previous jobs involving favorite U.S. foods. Also: a Top 10 list of the most disgusting things he has eaten.


In New York City, Mike climbs to the top of a giant building to a water tower and learns how to repair elevators.


In Alaska, Mike joins the crew aboard a fish-processing ship and gains a new appreciation for the men and women of the industry.


Mike visits an Indiana dairy farm, where he learns how to milk a cow and clean her udders. Also: how to artificially inseminate a cow and deliver calves.


In California, Mike learns about erosion control firsthand and does repair and maintenance on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway thousands of feet above the city.


Mike crawls through rat droppings, insulation and miscellaneous debris to make a house more energy efficient; and visits a farm, where he gets a lesson in the artificial insemination of turkeys.


Mike returns to Alaska to protect the environment by cleaning up an oil spill; in Minnesota, he joins a salvage team to retrieve a car that fell through the ice in a lake.


Mike gets his hands dirty at a wind farm in Oklahoma. Later, he travels to Kentucky to clean out a sinkhole that has become a garbage dump.

Episode 15. Animal Barber (Air Date: NA)

Mike returns to the Spring Brook Ranch in Kalispell, Mont., to join forces with the yak and bison rancher he worked with in the 150th episode special.


Mike reviews environmentally conscious dirty jobs, including geothermal drilling and salvaging wood and tires.


Mike looks for the Greenland shark in the Arctic Circle off Baffin Island and investigates ecological changes in that part of the world.

Episode 18. Tar Rigger (Air Date: NA)

The Star of India is visited for a profile on the tall ship's tar-rigging crew. Also: the host reflects on dirty tools he has encountered that enable civilized life.


A potato-chip factory is visited for a look at how the snack food is produced; the host takes on an underground cleaning assignment.


The host visits a sheep farm to gain hands-on experience shearing and castrating the livestock before sampling Rocky Mountain oysters. Also: an automobile dealership gets modified.

Episode 21. Leech Trapper (Air Date: NA)

A bait-store visit has the host catching leeches; a trip to a factory that makes raw food for dogs is featured.


Recalling U.S. presidents who once held "dirty" jobs.


A mobile-home park is demolished to make way for a new shopping center; the host visits a mannequin factory.

Episode 24. Egg Farm (Air Date: NA)

A chicken-farm visit reveals how eggs get to the store, along with a mess for the host to tidy up; dirt is processed into clean soil in Oklahoma.

Episode 25. Vellum Maker (Air Date: NA)

The host harvests hops in Yakima, Wash. Also: animal hides are converted into paper in New York's Hudson Valley.

Episode 26. Maggot Farmer (Air Date: NA)

A maggot farm is visited in Idaho; Mike tries to help relocate a giant cactus in Arizona ahead of an oncoming storm.

Episode 27. Gourd Maker (Air Date: NA)

A lake-cleaning project unfolds in Connecticut; the host visits a gourd farm to make gourd-based products in Pennsylvania.


Examining 200 jobs the host has tried in the course of the series.
