Rochelle gets involved in the neighborhood watch group after Julius' truck is stolen, but instead of making things safer she gets caught up in competing with a new neighbor named Louise; Drew finds his niche as a crossing guard; Chris tries to play it cool and avoid rejection when he asks out a new neighbor girl.
Chris decides to run for class president, but alienates Greg when the results of a popularity poll reveal that he'd be better off in the election without him as a friend or vice president; Drew teaches Tanya how to moonwalk.
When Chris's campaign speech is stolen by Caruso, Chris decides to improvise and winds up giving an opinionated, stirring speech in a style that hints at the man he is to become.
Louise gets in Rochelle's face after Chris mistakenly causes the neighborhood to believe he's dating Tasha; Julius panics when he learns a favorite store is closing; Drew misses his mom's affection.
Chris gets to watch the register for the first time, only to be robbed by the neighborhood thief, Malvo. When Chris resists fingering him for the crime in order to prevent retaliation, Doc fires him. Meanwhile, Julius brings home a Betamax machine to tape his favorite shows, but Tonya ruins his plans by recording over them with her cartoons.
The new principal pairs up Chris and Caruso on the school field trip in order to force them to work out their differences. Meanwhile, Rochelle suspects Tonya stole her prized hoop earrings; and Julius looks for a Wayne Gretzky hockey jersey as a gift for Drew.
Chris' presidency is in jeopardy when a newspaper article citing the flaws in his reign cause impeachment hearings. Meanwhile, Uncle Michael gets under Julius' skin with his free-loading ways; and, Drew teaches Tonya how to double-dutch.
Julius plans the perfect Thanksgiving meal in order to compete with his successful younger brother. But his plans go awry after Rochelle forgets to put the turkey in the oven and Chris burns the prized macaroni and cheese.
Chris is forced to reconsider his stance on good luck after Julius lends him his socks; Drew and Tonya think they can play their parents; and, nobody has the heart to tell Drew he has a terrible singing voice when he wants to enter the school talent show.
Chris gets sneezed on and winds up in the hospital with a quirky man named Kris. Meanwhile, Julius' job as a department store Santa doesn't end well when he harrasses the kids who ask for expensive gifts.
Chris and Greg are assigned to care for eggs as if they were children, but Rochelle wants Chris to learn the true meaning of being a parent. Meanwhile, Julius is distressed by the discovery that the electric bill exceeds the family budget and looks for ways to curb their usage. And, Tonya is terrified by the thought that Drew is a werewolf, this after she sees him watching and enjoying a movie about one.
Chris becomes a Hall Monitor in order to gain some respect from his fellow students and to avoid Caruso's constant harrassment, but his new position backfires and even puts him at odds with his best friend, Greg. Meanwhile, Tonya tries to win back her friends' attention after they fall under Drew's spell and want to spend all their time around him; and, Julius can't get away from Rochelle's constant complaints about her job.
Chris gets to school before a Snow Day is officially announced, and he's left having to share space with Principal Edwards, whose eccentricities begin to get to Chris. Meanwhile, when Julius discovers that Chris is missing, he braves the snow to find him; and, a subway robber tests the patience of the passengers, but none more so than Rochelle, who lets him have it.
A black substitute teacher holds Chris to a higher standard than the rest of the class. Meanwhile, Mr. Omar takes advantage of Julius' kindness, aggravating him in the process. And, Tonya begins to accuse Drew of hitting her every time she wants to get her way in one of their arguments.
Chris convinces Greg to cut school so they can go see a matinee of "Ghostbusters." But neither of them can prepare for who they run into at the theater: their supposedly sick teacher, Ms. Morello. Meanwhile, Drew and Tonya are wary of Rochelle's presence at their school. And, Julius' day is ruined by a visit to the DMV.
Chris draws the ire of a street thief when he prevents the thief from stealing Vanessa's gold chain and now Chris has to get him a gold chain or face the punishment. Meanwhile, Rochelle discovers Julius has been hiding a credit card from her; and, Tonya tries to win concert tickets.
When the local club DJ gets arrested, Chris fills in and becomes a big hit. But his fame gets him into trouble when he accidentally scratches his mom's James Brown album on the turntable. Meanwhile, Drew's interest in magic leads Julius to take him to a magic show, where he must battle his insane fear of rabbits.
Chris is torn between going to a baseball game with his dad and brother or on a date with the girl he likes. Meanwhile, Rochelle forgets to mail Tonya's letter to Billy Ocean; and, Rochelle's brother Michael asks out Vanessa, but then asks Julius to help him pay for it.
Chris demonstrates a remarkable ability to pick the winners of sporting events, making him the neighborhood's lucky charm. But when his skills cause everybody to be winners, the local bookie decides to put an end to the winning streak. Meanwhile, Tonya practices to beat Drew at checkers; and, Julius tries to bet on basketball against Rochelle's wishes.
Chris sneaks and listens to Red Foxx's comedy albums behind his parents' backs, and although the joke-telling makes him friends, it certainly does nothing to endear him from the teachers, who discipline him at school. Meanwhile, Drew tries to fight off an interested girl from the neighborhood.
Chris' struggles with math prompts Rochelle to initiate a math boot camp in the house. But Chris doesn't respond to her militaristic tutoring style and decides to go behind his mother's back and get help from Grandma Maxine, a former algebra teacher. Meanwhile, Drew breaks Julius' chair but Tonya takes the blame for it so that she can have Drew indebted to her.
Chris decides to shut Caruso up once and for all; Julius' plan to save money repairing Mr. Omar's plumbing backfires in more ways than one; Drew ruins his graduation cap and gown when he refuses to take it off; and, Chris has to go to summer school.
