Nate comes back to live with his parents and gets to experience home town life. Home isn't what he remembers it to be as his parents are in therapy. Mark Dove, a high school classmate, takes Nate through the town's party scene. The bright side of home quickly darkens when he learns the pretty bank teller is engaged and catches a shiner from her fiancee.
Nate takes a job at a restaurant and decides to go out with a coworker, bringing Dove along with a date of his own.
Bob and Margo are put through the wringer when Nate takes Bob for a colonoscopy.
Nate goes to work for a construction company after his parents tell him to stop messing around, but he is livid when he discovers that the job he's assigned to is a home for Amber and her groom-to-be.
Nate tries to get in good with Amber by hanging out with her brother. Meanwhile, Dove tries to win a karate tournament despite having only learned his technique from the internet.
Nate potentially makes a bad move when he decides to help Amber find her cat instead of going into a job interview in Kansas City. He ends up facing the possibility of losing out on both a job and Amber as well. Meanwhile, Dove is blind to his new dog's nasty side, while Bob and Margo find a joyful common ground in their impending divorce.
