Episode 1. Coming to Terms (Air Date: 09/23/2002)

Joan hopes to meet Mr. Right by inviting her friends' ex-boyfriends to a party.

Episode 2. Getting Our Act Together (Air Date: 09/30/2002)

While Maya and Darnell seek marriage counseling with their minister, Lynn looks for a new job and Joan competes with William for a partnership at the firm.

Episode 3. Secrets and Eyes (Air Date: 10/07/2002)

Hijinks ensue when the girls discover Toni has been lying about her actual age.

Episode 4. Star Craving Mad (Air Date: 10/14/2002)

At the gym, Joan gets into an altercation with a handsome celebrity over the use of the treadmill.

Episode 5. Don't Leave Me a Loan (Air Date: 10/21/2002)

Lynn tries to mend her bad spending habits when she learns her debt is putting her parents' retirement dream in jeopardy.


The girls instantly detest William's demanding girlfriend, Monica. Joan in particular is up in arms after Monica convinces William to renege on a promise to make her co-counsel for a big case because he would look better in the partners' eyes if he handled it himself.

Episode 7. Blinded by the Lights (Air Date: 11/04/2002)

While Toni tries to find the perfect house for client Laila Ali, Joan finds herself completely overlooked in favor of her famous date when they attend a movie premiere.

Episode 8. Handling Baggage (Air Date: 11/11/2002)

Maya makes another attempt at saving her marriage after learning that Darnell was with another woman.

Episode 9. The Mommy Returns (Air Date: 11/18/2002)

Lynn meets her biological mother, Sandy, who suddenly appears at Joan's house. Although the two initially become friends, Lynn soon becomes embarrassed by some of Sandy's behavior. However, Lynn becomes intrigued by a documentary project about sexuality, and quits her job to help her work on it. Meanwhile, Joan and Maya drive each other crazy as Maya and Jabari stay with Joan while Maya looks for an affordable apartment.

Episode 10. A Little Romance (Air Date: 11/25/2002)

Toni thinks she may be falling for Dr. Garrett.

Episode 11. Santa V. Monica (Air Date: 12/16/2002)

William must decide whether to play Santa for Maya's son or host a Christmas party for his girlfriend.


Lynn finds herself extremely attracted to a poet, and is stunned to learn that he has been celibate for five years. Ellis refuses to leave the house after fans on the Internet trash him and label him a sellout. William tries to win back the girls' trust following the Christmas Eve debacle.

Episode 13. Howdy Partner (Air Date: 01/07/2003)

Joan competes with William for a position as senior partner. Toni is asked to get an HIV test.

Episode 14. Single Mama Drama (Air Date: 02/03/2003)

Maya's new friendship with a spirited single-mother irritates the gang.


Joan is sent by Ellis on a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt. Meanwhile, Toni is upset over a racially-themed Valentine's Day card from Todd.

Episode 16. Sex, Lies and Books (Air Date: 02/17/2003)

Maya goes out on a blind date. Meanwhile, Joan starts her own book club.


Returning to his old firm, William suddenly finds himself attracted to the new senior partner. Toni is conflicted about whether or not she wants Todd to ask her to marry him.

Episode 18. Runaway Bridesmaid (Air Date: 02/24/2003)

Joan gets jealous of Toni's engagement, and Ellis becomes the target of her frustration. Maya, Lynn, and William try to figure out what wedding gifts to get for Toni.

Episode 19. The Pact (Air Date: 03/17/2003)

Lynn and Maya confront Joan about her jealousy and overall bad attitude regarding Toni's wedding. Joan is upset when Toni announces that Reesie Jackson, her college roommate, is coming to town to be a bridesmaid.


Maya becomes dejected when she runs into ex-husband Darnell and his new love at an old shared hangout and realizes that he's moved on with his life. Meanwhile, William decides to take off work to become a dancer on "Soul Train."

Episode 21. Too Much Sharin' (Air Date: 04/28/2003)

Joan's revelation about her knowledge of Sharon and William's secret relationship causes a rift in the romance as well as in her relationship with William. Toni seeks advice on heating up her wedding night.


Toni's mother learns that Toni plans not to have her disgruntled older sister be a bridesmaid and falls off the wagon while meeting Todd's family for the first time. Meanwhile, Sharon gives William an ultimatum, her or the firm.


Maya becomes William's assistant in order to increase her standing at the firm. Meanwhile, Lynn tries to contact her birthmother, Sandy, as she finishes up her AIDS documentary.

Episode 24. The Wedding (Air Date: 05/19/2003)

Toni is overwhelmed by plans for a huge wedding.
