Joan begins to have conversations with God as he appears to her in various forms and urges her to get a job at a bookstore.

After God tells her she needs to stop being and underachiever, Joan enrolls in AP chemistry.

God urges Joan to learn chess; Will has to get help from a psychic on a missing toddler case; Helen prays that a miracle will soemhow help Kevin walk again.

When Joan starts to build a boat Helen begins to worry; Will tries to get Kevin to join a wheelchair basketball team.

Joan gets jealous when she has to back out of a concert date with Adam and he asks another girl; Kevin's arrogance and abuse pushes Luke over the edge.

A picture of Joan in her underwear starts circling the school after a girl snaps her with he camera-phone on accident; Will has to deal with an elderly driver who accidentally killed several people.


Joan starts feeling pressure when she tries to juggle household chores with her other commitments; Will and Toni get stuck in an elevator with a woman who gives birth.

Joan decides to track down her father's half-brother; an old record album causes Joan's piano teacher to recall a painful moment from her past.
