Kath finds love in the form of a shop owner named Phil Knight. Kim is a self-absorbed princess newly separated from her husband of six weeks, Craig. Kim decides to move back home, putting a damper on Kath's new situation.
Kath wants to put "Good Hair Day" on the map. With the local mall's "Prom-enade" event gets Kim to model her new edgy and fun hairstyles in the hair show. Meanwhile, Craig finds a job after Kim gets him fired from the Circuit Surplus, but she also lands him in hot water on the first day of work.
Kath is all set to begin planning her big wedding, but insecurity kicks in after Kim states that maybe her mother is too old. Kath starts to believe that Kim might be right, a thought that later gets proven when she catches Phil with a younger woman. Meanwhile, Kim gets the feeling Craig is having an affair, so she enlists a little help from her other best friend, Angel.
Kath, now planning her wedding, finds the perfect wedding dress, and decides to design the lavish affair around it. Unfortunately, Kath's ideas are more expensive than she thought, forcing her to find various ways of paying for them. When Kim finds out breeding Craig's dog could lead to some cash, she is suddenly interested in getting back with her estranged husband.
Kath allows Phil to fulfill a fantasy involving strawberries, even though she is terribly allergic to them. Kim convinces Kath that Phil just may also be keeping secrets, and that Kath may not even know Phil that well. Kath gets paranoid and begins to believe that she is engaged to a stranger. Later, Kim refuses to go back to Craig until he gets rid of his dog, and in an effort to make Craig jealous, Kim and her friend Tina go speed dating.
Phil's best friend Sandy Freckle is in town for a visit, but Kath does not like the way Sandy treats her man. Meanwhile, Craig's friend Derrick is convinced that Kim has Craig sprung. To prove his friend wrong, Craig says no to Kim's requests, forcing Kim to find another way to get what she wants.
Kath and Phil plan a romantic evening together, but their night is ruined when Kim and Craig come home from a dinner date earlier than expected. Any chance for romance is thrown out the window when Kim and Craig have a public fight after he refuses to fund her newest business venture--a lingerie party.
Kath has an awkward moment with a gay couple while shopping for her wedding stationary. Meanwhile, Kath begins to question Kim's new friendship with an old high school classmate. Phil becomes self-conscious after a hairy situation occurs.
