Bill becomes involved with a single mother, Charlene who has returned to Arlen after being away for some years. When Charlene introduces her two children to Hank, Dale and Boomhauer, Dale immediately dislikes her oldest, Kate.
When Peggy needs a new car, Hank insists they buy from Tom Hammond his go-to salesman for 25 years. With her heart set on a convertible, Peggy begins the negotiation behind Hank's back and gets the price down considerably.

The boys get irritated with Peggy and rebel, but they soon come to realize that Peggy is only looking out for their own good.
Kahn's father-in-law, General Gum, visits the Souphanousinphone family. The General gives Kahn a hard time and makes him feel like a failure. Hank and the gang feel for Kahn, which never happens and take him under their wing. Peggy and Bobby know that Kahn is just showing his emotional side while the General is in town and as soon as Arlen is without the General, Kahn will show his true colors.
Peggy finds a great home listing that she must sell within two weeks. However, the home is currently occupied by the strangest family in Arlen. Peggy doesn't feel they are visually appealing enough to get the home sold in time, so she decides to bring in a "Hollywood" family to sell the home.

Hank and Bobby get in some father/son bonding time when Hank dumps the old team of Dale, Bill and Boomhauer to help Bobby in a boat-building competition. During the building process, Hank gets spooked by bats that invade the construction garage, forcing Bobby to do the building all alone.
