An apartment fire claims the life of a disabled child and the detectives investigate whether his death is a tragic accident or the purposeful disposal by his burdened parents.

A violinist is murdered and her rare instrument is stolen. The main suspect is the conductor of the orchestra she played for, but his wife takes all the blame. Lewin and the presiding judge have major disagreements.

An AIDS researcher is killed as activists try to free the monkey test subjects. The defense team tries to win the case by proving the validity of protecting animal life.


A woman's body is found in the Central Park lake. The line of suspects includes her wealthy husband.

A Chinese restaurant owner is murdered and a teen is arrested for the crime. The DA must decide whether or not to seek the death penalty.

A gay man is killed after his partner adopts a little boy. The case leads to an investigation of a possible hate crime.

A pregnant loan officer is found shot to death in the trunk of a car and the investigation leads to a basketball star.


After a murder on a popular television reality-show, detectives Briscoe and Green find evidence that producers knew about escalating hostilities between participants beforehand. Subsequently, Assistant D.A. McCoy prosecutes a network executive as being responsible for instigating and encouraging conflict that led to the death of the show's participant.

After a girl is murdered by her drug dealer, Briscoe and Greene discover that a man in prison for murder was wrongfully convicted. McCoy must try to get him released.

A drugs-and-money trail leads Detectives Briscoe and Green to an addicted user whose husband was once a U.S. Major in charge of the anti-war efforts in Colombia.

The detectives probe a series of staged car-crashes to find out who has been orchestrating them.

Episode 20. All My Children (Air Date: 05/02/2001)

Detectives investigating a man's murder track down a woman who may have been extorting from the victim's father.

Episode 21. Brother's Keeper (Air Date: 05/09/2001)

Detectives Briscoe and Green find that a wealthy businessman who was shot dead was also a business partner of criminal Cally Lonegan. The FBI provides Cally with an alibi, but the investigation goes deep into Cally Lonegan's family and his ties to the FBI.

Episode 22. School Daze (Air Date: 05/16/2001)

A student disguised as a ninja opens fire on classmates, killing four and wounding eleven. Detectives Briscoe and Green discover the unsettling fact that many students fit the profile of a youth committing such violence. The urgent need to locate the perpetrator intensifies when an e-mail threat of more murders is received by the student council president. Former ADA Jamie Ross returns to defend her troubled client from life imprisonment.

Episode 23. Judge Dread (Part 1) (Air Date: 05/23/2001)

When a hit is ordered on a judge and fails, the detectives must find out who is behind it.

Episode 24. Deep Vote (Part 2) (Air Date: 05/23/2001)

The murder of a struggling business woman is a case of mistaken identity as Detectives Briscoe and Green warn the intended victim, investigative reporter Kate Pierce.
