LA cop Eddie Sutton wants to move his family into a house of their own. Unfortunately, the house is in Lincoln Heights, a tought inner city neighborhood.
Eddie is investigated at the police station for shooting Donnelle. Charles and Cassie must testify as well. Cassie is angry at her father for making them leave their old neighborhood.
At Cassie's high school, Val, an undercover cop along with Eddie and Lund are assigned to take down the drug dealers. Jealousy surfaces in Charles after he sees Cassie flirting with Val. Meanwhile, Lizzie is thrown into a predicament when she finds out a friend's secret.
A persistent ex-boyfriend of Jenn's sister won't take no for an answer, so Eddie and Jenn are forced to intervene. Unfortunately, they didn't realize how obsessed and desperate the man was. Meanwhile, Eddie and Lund investigate a murder outside of a Chinese restaurant. They discover their witness may be a victim of human trafficking.
Eddie bumps into Mulaney, an old friend from high school. He doesn't realize that Mulaney will soon hold up a nearby bank. Eddie gets more involved than he expected in the dangerous hostage situation. Jenn tends to the wounded hostages at the hospital while she fears for her husband's life. Meanwhile, Tay takes up the clarinet.
Eddie and Jenn find an abandoned baby in a dumpster. After taking the baby to the hospital, they both become intent on finding the mother of the child and finding out why the baby was abandoned. Meanwhile, Lizzie has a crush on one of Tay's friends and Eddie has to deal with the fact that Cassie has feelings for Charles.
Eddie and Lund accidentally hit a 13 year-old boy on his bike. They don't realize that he was fleeing the scene of a gamg shooting in which he shot and killed the sister of a rival gang member.
While in pursuit, Lund saves Eddie's life and is hit by a car. He is sent to the hospital. Eddie, knowing the hit-and-run was meant for him, becomes obsessed with finding out who did it. Meanwhile, Jenn joins the neighborhood watch program, much to Eddie's chagrin. Lizzie befriends one of the popular girls from school whose influences are not exactly positive. Cassie lands a job.
The Suttons’ home is broken into and terrorized by two local gang members, Magnum and Boa, who want to scare the family. Forgetting her cell phone, Lizzie runs back and accidentally catches them in the act.
The Suttons are trying to work through the emotional drama of Lizzies kidnapping and everyone except Lizzie seems distraught. To ensure a safe return to school the sole requirement is for Lizzie and the entire family to undergo counseling.
Several prostitutes lose their lives when a murderer goes on a killing spree in Lincoln Heights. In the wrong place at the wrong time, Dana accidentally becomes a witness to her friends’ homicide. With the ability to identify the killer, she becomes the next target on his list. Much to Jenn’s chagrin, Dana and her son, Jarone are back in the Sutton’s lives as they lean on them for protection and support until things are safe.
Tay is celebrating his 13th birthday, but both grandparents show up and they don't get along. They try to set aside their differences for their grandchildren. Meanwhile, Eddie and Lund drive by a a liquor store disturbance involving Bishop. Bishop is the man that Eddie believes is trying to drive his family out of the neighborhood.
The Suttons finally have an offer on the house and a firm moving date in place, but the news is bitter sweet for the family. They all realize that in their own way they have grown from the experiences they’ve had in Lincoln Heights and despite all the dramatic incidents they have come to love the community. With Bishop still on the loose and now with a death vendetta for Eddie, the Suttons must pull together.
