Episode 1. Season Opener (Air Date: 09/22/1998)

Paul takes a Viagra pill at Ira's urging. Meanwhile, Jamie is locked out of her health club wearing only a towel.

Episode 2. A Pain in the Neck (Air Date: 09/29/1998)

When Paul is hospitalized for a tonsillectomy, a traumatized Jamie makes everyone miserable by wringing her hands through the operation. Meanwhile, Ira tries to undo the damage he caused by giving Mabel a gift that prompts the baby to utter her first word, a mispronunciation that approximates foul language.

Episode 3. Tragedy Plus Time (Air Date: 10/27/1998)

Jamie's ex-boyfriend dies of a bee sting and leaves all his things to his only true love, Jamie. He also leaves a video taped confession of love.


Lisa wants to be a mother, so she gets a cat from the pound that turns out to be a young puma. Meanwhile, Jaime gets extra energy from her "nooners" with Paul, but they leave him wiped out.

Episode 5. The Silent Show (Air Date: 11/10/1998)

Sheila tells Paul and Jamie to not talk to each other as a better way of communicating. Meanwhile, a percussion group moves in upstairs.

Episode 6. Weekend In L.A. (Air Date: 11/17/1998)

The Buchmans dump Mabel off on family again as they jet off to L.A. so that Paul can meet with an agent.

Episode 7. The Thanksgiving Show (Air Date: 11/24/1998)

On the eve of Thanksgiving, Paul and Jamie find that Mabel may be allergic to Murray. Later, the Buchmans try a game of charades to liven up their Thanksgiving party.

Episode 8. The Buried Fight (Air Date: 12/14/1998)

The Buchman's attempts to do good deeds for their difficult neighbors only make matters worse.

Episode 9. Farmer Buchman (Air Date: 01/11/1999)

Paul goes into an auteur funk when Jamie doesn't like his new film, "People Who Aren't Famous, But Should Be." Meanwhile, Jamie finds a toy that makes Mabel happy.

Episode 10. Win A Free Car (Air Date: 01/18/1999)

Ira recruits Paul and Mark to be ringers in his car giveaway scheme to help out his failing store.

Episode 11. The Honeymoon (Air Date: 01/25/1999)

Paul and Jamie reluctantly leave Lisa to house and dog sit so that they can go on the honeymoon they never had.

Episode 12. Valentine's Day (Air Date: 02/08/1999)

Paul buys Jamie a house in the suburbs for Valentine's Day, but discovers that she doesn't like it. When they meet the owners who disagree about the sale of the home, they spend the night and hear a slew of scary sounds.

Episode 13. Virtual Reality II (Air Date: 02/22/1999)

Jamie and Paul meet Mark McGwire just after Jamie has a romantic virtual reality experience with the homerun king. Meanwhile, Ira dates a woman who he thinks is perfect.


Uncle Phil returns to high school where Paul and Jamie have to play parents when he starts causing problems.

Episode 15. Murray at the Dog Show (Air Date: 04/26/1999)

Paul and Jamie decide that Murray should compete in a dog show to boost his self-esteem, but Nat can't get Murray to overcome his fears. Meanwhile, Sheila announces that Paul and Jamie's marriage counseling is now complete.

Episode 16. Millenium Bug (Air Date: 04/27/1999)

Jamie is furious that Paul took her dress to a new dry cleaner where it incurred an unsightly stain. Paul has a dream about Albert Einstein and claims to have a sacred formula that could save the world from the millennium bug.

Episode 17. Separate Beds (Air Date: 05/03/1999)

After a comfortable night apart, Paul and Jamie decide to give each other some extra space. Meanwhile, Ira becomes the manager for wrestling wanna-be Marvin.

Episode 18. Stealing Burt's Car (Air Date: 05/10/1999)

Paul and Jamie decide to steal Burt's old broken down car so that he will have to buy a new one, but their plan is foiled when they are caught by a tenacious cop.


After a shared epiphany, Paul and Jamie agree to live each day as if it were their last. A car accident puts Jamie's mother in the hospital where she gets a visit from her ex-husband.

Episode 20. The Dirty Little Secret (Air Date: 05/17/1999)

While researching the family tree, Debbie discovers that Paul and Jamie could actually be distant cousins. Paul and Jamie are alarmed while Sylvia now warms up to Jamie as "family."

Episode 21. The Final Frontier (Air Date: 05/24/1999)

A special one hour series finale. A grown up Mabel looks back her parents’ ups and downs over the years.
