The Cougars are just below five hundred on the season and running back Leon Taylor is looking to get his running back position back from the hot Rookie after time on the injured reserve. On the defensive side of the ball, Coach George works to pull Eric Olczyk's game and head fixed.
The league's drug testing official, otherwise known as The Piss Man, shows up to make sure everybody's clean, but the players don't know who's on his list. While Olczyk works out his troubles and McConnell deals with pain problems, Guard Dog offers Leon a way to get back into prime form.
DH's team spirit comes into question when he must back one horse, his teammates or his friends. Robin doesn't like the outlook of Leon's potential trade. McConnell loses his feel for the ball.
DH comes under the police investigation's microscope and has to change his statement. Robin and Leon continue to have relationship difficulties because of his physical act against her.
Olczyk has a hard time dealing with Leon now that he knows that Leon hit Robin. Leon thinks he receives another leg injury, but the doctor realizes that the x-rays have been switched. DH's problems with drugs continue as he starts halftime going through withdrawl then drugs up. McConnell sends Chambers into the stands in search of some female attention.
DH is sent to a drug detox program. Things heat up for Leon as rumors of possible domestic abuse start to whir. McConnell arranges a party for his teammates. Olczyk is tweaked to see Beth dating McConnell and this forces him to admit his feelings about her both to her and to himself. Kelvin's girl overdoses at the party while with DH.
Leon is arrested when the physical abuse issue with Robin is outed. DH visits a terminally ill fan. McConnell has personal interactions with Wilbanks's daughter.
McConnell's tryst haunts him as she turns up pregnant with his child. Leon is given an option to return to football with a price, he has to plead guilty to assault. Coach George is told he has cancer. Olczyk has to handle a quarterback who uses his legs as well as his arm.
Guerwitcz asks August to marry him in order to avoid being outed, but this backfires when this upsets David and he outs him to the team. Leon gets mad at Olczyk for his mid-season negotiations. Guerwitcz is blackmailed into accepting an injured reserve status.
Buffalo gets up in DH's face over the fact that the man he sent to prison, for his friend Cal's crime, was sentenced to life. Leon shows signs of speed loss and learns his contract will not be renewed. DH gets advice from his older brother Big E. When Big E learns the real shooter's identity and goes to the police, he is shot in a drive-by, forcing DH to face the consequences of his decisions.
Leon hopes to land a sportscaster position with his future as a player in question. Olczyk is surprised by Jenna's proclamation of her pregnancy. Buffalo's weight becomes a health concern. DH skips out on practice and runs afoul of the coach. The team wins a game to keep their playoff hopes alive only to have them dashed when Phoenix beats New Jersey.
