Episode 1. Innovation (Air Date: 12/01/2004)

Designers created a sexy, glamorous outfit for a night on the town made only from materials bought at a Manhattan supermarket. Daniel Franco is eliminated.

Episode 2. Vision (Air Date: 12/08/2004)

Another day begins and the designers are to design a dress that represents "Envy." As they finish, the designers are surprisedly told that their dresses will be put up for sale in a private auction with whomever gets the most bids winning the challenge. Mario Cadenas is eliminated.

Episode 3. Commercial Appeal (Air Date: 12/15/2004)

The designers finally have to design something actually wearable. For this challenge, the designers must create a party dress that would appeal to Banana Republic's customers. The winner, instead of being granted immunity, will have his or her dress marketed and sold at select Banana Republic stores. Starr Ilzhoefer is eliminated.

Episode 4. Collaboration (Air Date: 01/05/2005)

Rock singer, Sarah Hudson, makes a special appearance. All of the designers show them their prospective Rock N' Roll designs and Sarah picks the three whose designs she likes best: Jay, Kevin, and Austin's. Those three are the team leaders and they have to pick two others to be on their team and as a group, they will work on the group leader's design. Vanessa Riley is eliminated.

Episode 5. Model Clients (Air Date: 01/12/2005)

The designers learn that their selected model will be their client, and they must design a wedding dress of their model's dreams. Nora Caliguri is eliminated.

Episode 6. Making A Splash (Air Date: 01/19/2005)

The designers prepare for a daring creations with a swimsuit that also wears as evening wear. Alexandra Vidal is eliminated.

Episode 7. Design a Collection (Air Date: 01/26/2005)

The remaining designers must create a collection for the year 2055. The twist will be to purchase these clothing items with a budget of $50 for each team. Kevin Johnn is eliminated

Episode 8. Postal Uniform Challenge (Air Date: 02/02/2005)

5 designers are left and their challenge is to redesign the US Postal Service Uniform. Robert Plotkin is eliminated.

Episode 9. Design For The Red Carpet (Air Date: 02/09/2005)

This is the last challenge before the final three finalists compete at New York Fashion Week. The four designers left are tasked with designing an outfit for Nancy O'Dell, host of Access Hollywood. Austin Scarlett is eliminated.

Episode 10. Reunion Show (Air Date: 02/16/2005)

A special reunion episode, the 12 designers all reunite to talk about what happened behind the scenes on Project Runway. When people are confronted and questions are answered, the fabric starts flying.

Episode 11. Fashion Week (Air Date: 02/23/2005)

The final three designers each create a collection for showing at New York Fashion Week.
