The designers take a field trip to the beach and are challenged to create a beach/surfwear look and the perfect hairstyle while working in teams of two. While the judges liked his team’s work, they dismiss Mitchell based on his lack of participation.

The remaining designers head down the street to the Los Angeles Times building and the challenge is to create a look out of newspaper. Irina wins the challenge and Johnny is eliminated.
