In the series premiere of this comedy, which focuses on friends navigating postcollege life in NYC, Mark (Tyler Francavilla) runs into his high-school crush, Katie (Dorian Brown), and moves in with her and her roommates, hoping to win her affection. However, Mark doesn't make the best first impression with one of those roommates, Hope (Tamera Mowry), who is Katie's best friend.
Katie seeks relationship advice from a tarot-card reader, who tells her that she's already met her future husband. Upon hearing this news, Mark tries to convince Katie that he is that man.
Katie applies for a job at Hope's old company, forcing Hope to seek help from Mark and Thom in protecting her secret that she no longer works there.
Hope's father (Tim Reid) makes a surprise visit and tells her to come home because he's unhappy with her job situation. Desperate to remain in NYC, Hope pretends that Mark is her boyfriend and tries to prove their love is reason enough for her to stay.
