Run down, a nurse accidentally gets pricked by a needle with the HIV virus. Dana performs brain surgery on a former rival whose brain tumor may be causing her religious visions. Nick and Dana get into an argument in their shared personal life.

Lu learns more about her grandmother when she comes in for a bone marrow transplant. The story of how Lu met Lana and Peter and how she went on to start the health clinic is revealed.

Lu tries to take care of one of Dana's patients who has lost her home. Dana tends to a woman abused by her adopted daughter. Marc is punished for cheating in school.

Robert asks Dana to go against the rules for a new drug trial by giving his wife the drug and not the placebo. Lu's treatment of a girl's anorexia reveals a hidden family truth.

A figure skater is told she has osteoporosis and must decide how she will let that affect her future. Nick's cold feet about marriage freeze over his relationship with Dana. Lu shows support of a patient with a radio talk show appearance.

Dana tries to help an Amish girl whose illness endangers her family and community. Peter tries to help heal his girlfriend's troubled mind without any help from her family. Lana turns to Lu when she finds her sexual appetite isn't what it could be.

A pro-life public figure is told the only way she can survive an illness requires the loss of her unborn child. Dana believes Lu is responsible for the story's release to the public and challenges her on it. The onset of menopause reveals a woman's true age, though she's tried to hide it.

Lu takes up the cause of a stenographer suffering through Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. A mother turns to Dana believing her child to be on drugs, but both learn a different truth for the situation. Peter finds his morals tested by motorcycle hijackers.

Dana fears that some nausea may be a sign of pregnancy. Lu's award acceptance isn't a day in the park when she has to use all her knowledge against a very real disease. Lu and Harry enjoy a continued relationship.

A potential murderess gives birth in the hospital to a baby and more violence. Lu tries to fix a patient's snoring and love life. Harry's ex-wife returns to town and effectively stops things between him and Lu.

A nurse strike hits Rittenhouse with great entropy. Dana debates using an experimental procedure to save the life of a baby. Lu worries about letting a woman return to her abusive spouse.

Episode 19. Type and Cross (Air Date: 01/20/2002)

An emergency blood shortage at Rittenhouse leaves the final decision of who does and does not receive blood in the hands of Dana and Lu. Dana gets the possibility of love in the arms of a very popular Philadelphia bachelor.

Episode 20. Rape Kit (Air Date: 02/17/2002)

Lu is raped by a surgeon from Rittenhouse who denies the charges. Dana treats a woman who may have purposefully crashed her car.

Episode 21. Trauma (Air Date: 02/24/2002)

Lu suffers through the aftereffects of her rape by Dr. Kilner. Lu's son wants to take the law into his own hands. Dana seeks the help of Dr. Kilner to save a cancer patient's life.

Episode 22. Recovery Time (Air Date: 03/03/2002)

Lu's anger over her rapists dismissal leads Robert to relieve her of duty at Rittenhouse. Dana tries to help a patient decide on whether in virto fertilization is worth the consequence of hastening her demise.
