The new contestants find themselves separated into four tribes based on race. During the first immunity challenge, the African-American Hiki tribe loses, so Sekou Bunch finds himself the first contestant sent home from the competition.
Despite losing their first member, the Hiki tribe is excited by receiving the gift of fire. The Hispanic Aitu tribe gets upset that Billy seems to be not pulling his weight around the camp. When his tribe loses the immunity challenge, Billy Garcia finds himself being sent home.
Yul's frustrations with Cao-Boi continue to build. The tribes find out they are going to be integrated into two new tribes, Aitu and Raro. Yul confesses to Becky that he's found the immunity idol. Raro wins the immunity challenge. The Aitu tribe votes to eliminate Cecilia Mansilla.
The Aitu tribe wins the rewards challenge. Ozzy impresses his tribe with the catching of some fish. Parvati continues flirting with Nate, while complaining about J.P.'s behavior. The Raro tribe loses the immunity challenge and sends J.P. Calderon home during the tribal council.
Cao-Boi complains the women of his tribe are lazy. The Raro tribe wins the rewards challenge, but their good luck at catching an octopus is overturned when Cristina drops it. Ozzy and Cao-Boi discover the location of the Raro tribes' camp. The Aitu tribe wins the immunity challenge, so Raro sends home Stephannie Favor.
Cristina is upset by the treatment she feels she is receiving from the people in her tribe. Cao Boi has a dream about how to figure out who has the immunity idol, but makes the mistake of telling it to the idol's owner, Yul. Two contestants are told they will face elimination and during the tribal councils both Anh-Tuan "Cao Boi" Bui and Cristina Coria being eliminated.

Candice and Jonathan sieze the change to change from the Aitu to the Raro tribe. The Aitu tribe then wins a breakfast reward and the immunity challenge. Brad Virata's distrust of his tribemates proves well-founded when they vote him out of the game.
Despite losing members, the Aitu tribe once again wins the rewards challenge. As a result, they sent mutinous tribe member Candice to Exile Island. The Aitu tribe then wins the immunity challenge. Rebecca Borman and Jenny Guzon-Bae are both eliminated during the tribal council.
Jonathan continues to upset the others with his constantly giving out orders. The two tribes are finally merged into the Aitutonga tribe. Yul sets out win Jonathan's loyalty. Ozzy wins the first individual immunity challenge. At the tribal council, Nate Gonzalez is sent home.
Yul reveals he has the immunity idol during the rewards challenge. For the fourth time, Candice Woodcock is sent to Exile Island. She further alienates the others in an argument over food and is eliminated from the competition after Adam wins the immunity challenge.
Jonathan is upset that he was spoken against at the tribal council. Parvati cuts herself with a machete. The remaining contestants compete at the rewards challenge for time with a loved one. Ozzy wins the immunity challenge. Jonathan Penner finds himself out of the game during the tribal council.
Yul, Ozzy, and Parvati win the reward of a day at the spa, while Adam finds himself going to Exile Island. Becky tries to get Yul to help vote Ozzy out of the game quicker than planned, but his goal is to eliminate Parvati. Ozzy wins the immunity challenge, so Yul gets his way and Parvati Shallow is eliminated from the game.
Adam, Becky, Sundra, Ozzy, and Yul struggle to win the first immunity challenge, with Ozzy being victorious. Adam Gentry is eliminated, leaving only four contestants.
