The sixth edition of The Amazing Race began in downtown Chicago as teams made their way to Reykjavic, Iceland. After a major mistake, best friends Meredith & Maria fell way behind in a drive across the beautiful, rural Icelandic landscape, but caught up when teams camped overnight on a glacier.
The Scandinavian tour continued as teams made their way to Oslo, Norway, where long-distance dating couple Kris & Jon excelled at a Detour of traditional Viking games to earn a first-place finish.
Dating actors Hayden & Aaron captured the lead for a second time as teams made their way to Stockholm, Sweden. A Detour at the world's largest Ikea caused frustration for grandparents Don & Mary Jean and married pro wrestlers Lori & Bolo.
As teams made their way to Senegal in western Africa, married entrepreneurs Jonathan & Victoria set the pace for most of the leg. However, a talented cab driver dodged traffic for long-distance dating couple Kris & Jon, giving them their second win, while Jonathan & Victoria settled for second place once again.
After an emotional tribute to Africans sold into slavery, teams headed back to Europe, landing in historic Berlin, Germany. Married entrepreneurs Jonathan & Victoria set the pace through a wild soap box derby Roadblock, but found themselves at the losing end of footrace to the Pit Stop with engaged models Freddy & Kendra, who logged their first victory.
After a queasy start for Kendra at a bungee jump Roadblock, engaged models Freddy & Kendra led the pack as teams headed to Budapest, Hungary. Many teams encountered difficulties driving to Eger, Hungary in notoriously unreliable local cars called trabbants, but last-place married pro wrestlers Lori & Bolo suffered the worst blow after car troubles forced them to miss the last train back to Hungary.
After beginning the leg with a seemingly insurmountable deficit, married pro wrestlers Lori & Bolo battled back in Budapest to claim both the Fast Forward and the first-place victory.
As the six remaining teams made their way from Hungary to the French island of Corsica, formerly dating couple Adam & Rebecca claimed victory by winning the Fast Forward in a walk along the ocean floor.
Penniless after a last-place finish in Corsica, dating actors Hayden & Aaron soared to the top as teams traveled to the lush countryside of Ethiopia. After running a relay race in Addis Ababa, teams made their way to the island of Sri Lanka, where a missed train put formerly dating couple Adam & Rebecca squarely in last place. Meanwhile, married pro wrestlers Lori & Bolo led the way for much of the leg until being overtaken by long-distance dating couple Kris & Jon. A fatal mistake at a very close Roadblock made the difference, as Lori & Bolo became the seventh team eliminated from the race.
The language barrier became a critical issue as teams made their way to Shanghai, China. Unable to properly communicate where they needed to go, long-distance dating couple Kris & Jon, uncharacteristically frustrated, fell to the back of the pack when their driver got lost on the way to the Roadblock and the Detour.
The four remaining teams take off from their Pit Stop at a hotel near the Lion Rock in Sri Lanka, receiving a clue to fly 4,000 miles to Shang Hai, China.
