A teen boy tries to shoplift a pair of backstage passes from the antique store, but Melinda stops him. His mother, Delia, wants to make up for her son's behavior. An obsessed ghost, who won't show his face to Melinda, asks her to visit his wife in Maine.

Melinda and Delia are in a store when it is robbed. Shortly after, the owner, Randy, who died appears to Melinda and leads her to his killer. The ghost, Randy decides to go to the other side instead of going to the light. He sends Melinda a warning message before he leaves.

Melinda is intrigued when she meets Gabriel, another Ghost Whisperer with the same abilities, but there is something about him that he doesn't trust. She becomes worried when she learns that there are ghosts attached to him, and more concerned when she learns Professor Payne's wife is dead.
Melinda fears for the safety of Delia when she has dreams about Delia's death. She is confused by the visions a prophet ghost shows her. She realizes that the visions are not of the future, but of the past.
Fearing that the dark side is becoming more powerful than the light, Melinda searches for the meaning behind mythological clues before another tragedy strikes Grandview.
