Nick must represent a young boy from a traveling circus who has accused the owner of the circus of molesting him. After they he and Nick beat a man up, Burton tries to bribe him.

Episode 2. Big Coal (Air Date: 09/30/2003)

Nick convinces a number of townspeople to sing a release exonerating a coal company from wrongdoing before he finds out the truth about the company.

Episode 3. The Line (Air Date: 10/07/2003)

When a man and his son seek a merger of their family's department store, Nick gets caught in the middle; in order to delay Lulu's move to Berkeley, Alvin has to go behind her back.

Episode 4. The Father-Daughter Dance (Air Date: 10/14/2003)

Nick has to help a caucasian couple who wants to sue a fertility clinic when their child turns out to be black.

When the banks starts collecting on their loan, Nick tries to get back fees from his clients.


Lulu's father comes to Pittsburgh looking for money; Nick and Lulu decide to take their relationship to the next level.

NIck's relationship issues lead him back to drug use and he ends up looking into a rehabilitation facility.

Alvin accuses Nick of rushing his recovery program; after a bus crash, Nick represents its driver, whose reaction to a racist comment may have caused the crash.

When Lulu tells Nick that the baby has Downs syndrome, he decides to take a case involving a 23-year-old man suffering from Downs syndrome in order to learn more about it.

A teenager beast up his mother for sleeping with one of his friends and may have to live in a foster home; Jake comes out to Burton and his mother.

Alvin quits his job after he finds out that he has Lou Gerhig's disease and asks Nick to accompany him to Los Angeles to re-connect with his long-lost son.

Nick defends a sexually abused teenager whose father becomes a suspect; Alvin is forced to turn over files to the police to help solve murder cases involving pedophiles.

Nick's position at the firm is threatened when he is sued for sexual discrimination; Nick and Lulu start going to couple's counseling.

Episode 21. Blood In, Blood Out (Air Date: 04/27/2004)

Nick finishes up his community service at Legal Services of Pittsburgh with cases involving two boys who end up fighting while locked up in juvenile detention.

Episode 22. Antarctica (Air Date: 05/04/2004)

Having been fired from Fallin & Fallin, Nick takes a job at a competing firm; Lulu gives birth to a baby girl and decides to start working part-time at Legal Services.
