Nine people are held hostage inside a bank robbery gone wrong. They all come out of the bank after two days, completely changed and affected. One of the robbers is shot and in critical condition, the other is captured and sent to jail. The nine try and continue their lives but feel drawn to one another. Most of them meet up for dinner, but the youngest, Felicia, goes to visit the robber in jail.
Nick's job with the police is in danger. The FBI wants him to say that they handled everything well, and he won't. He goes to Kathryn for help. Egan gets media attention from television and the press. He helps to set up a fund for Franny. However, his boss at work fires him for his attitude. Felicia continues to struggle with her memory loss.
Some of The Nine try to go back to work, but struggle with their memories of the robbery. Felicia continues to try and regain her memory of what happened. Jeremy distresses over what he did at the hospital. Egan tells his wife that he'd like to have children.
The group meets at a diner and discusses what they would like to see happen to Randall. They all have different opinions. Lizzie wants Randall to go to court, while Nick wants him dead.
Nick and Kathryn discover that Randall Reese did time in jail with Eva's boyfriend. The two work to find out if Eva was in on the robbery. Lizzie tells the others that she is pregnant with Jeremy's child. Malcolm struggles with whose side he should take regarding a lawsuit between the bank and his dead friend's widow.
Lizzie reveals a connection with Lucas that was established during the bank robbery. Ed proposes to Kathryn. At Egan's poker party, Kathryn sees a new side to Nick and makes a decision about her future. Jeremy and Franny decide to take their relationship a step further.
Nick's ex-wife appears and needs a favor. Franny finds the key to Eva's safe deposit box where she discovers letters from their mother. Jeremy and Lizzie must deal with their secret from inside the bank when Jeremy's parents start asking questions.
Eight of the nine are brought to the District Attorney's office to relive the security guard's murder. Kathryn is offered an endorsement by the Mayor for District Attorney. Lizzie becomes aware of the relationship between Jeremy and Franny.
Jeremy and Egan ask Nick for help when Lizzie suddenly disappears. A note is found which suggests that the nine are being watched. And Franny and Jeremy's relationship is exposed to the group.
During a televised interview, Egan blurts out that the nine are being watched, which creates a frenzy among the media and the authorities. Meanwhile, the nine are brought in for questioning as the search continues for the inside man in the robbery, and Nick visits Randall and Lucas' mother.
