A prominent senator calls Ellenor to represent him in a murder trial when it seems evident that he killed his wife's lover. It becomes clear that there is more at play here that what the eye can see and the truth becomes more convoluted through a tulmultuous trial.

Ellenor continues her defense of a Senator accused of murder and the bizarre circumstances of the crime begin to unfold.After the trial doesn't go favorably, his daughter admits to the crime though no one on either side finds it plausible.

Bobby is hired to prosecute a man for the kidnapping and "wrongful death" of a couple's son, 18 years prior.

A young man who thinks he might be the couple's lost son, long thought dead, comes to Bobby. He finds the man they are trying for the crime was framed by the woman who in fact kidnapped and raised the boy.

When an Arab is detained by federal authorities for no known legal reason, Rebecca tries to get to the bottom of it but is in for more than she expects.

A man-of-the-cloth must decide whether to take a secret he knows to the stand in order to save a defendant from a death sentence or break his vows.

At the request of a client, Bobby makes a decision but he may have jumped the gun while Lindsay asks for a DNA test on a client whose rape case she lost years ago and who is now serving time for the crime he may not have committed.

When Ellenor is hesitant to defend a client, that client decides to act as his own attorney. Even though Ellenor would like to step away, the judge orders her to remain on as a standby. Bobby tries to deal with the trauma he feels as an aftereffect of the assault.

When a judge is suspected of being on the take, Bobby and Helen participate in a sting operation to catch him in the act.

A woman seeks Jimmy's help in protecting her husband who, while under the delusion of being Superman, brought harm to an innocent.

Eugene and Rebecca battle Helen Gamble over a child abuse case. Ellenor receives another proposal from Assistant District Attorney Mitchell Wheeler.

Helen runs afoul of DA Walsh who has more than a little interest in her prosecution of a mob connected murderer while Lindsay inadvertantly gets a client arrested.

A friend of Jimmy's is charged with arson, insurance fraud and murder; a high-school student that works in the office develops a crush on Lucy.

Episode 19. The Return of Joey Heric (Air Date: 04/14/2002)

Twice-aquitted murderer and egomaniac Joey Heric returns, armed with a law degree, and drags the firm into his first case defending an accused murderer. Also, another former client, a drug-addicted prostitute that once tricked Jimmy, makes her own return seeking help against one of her clients, a prominent attorney, who she claims beat and raped her.

A schizophrenic client believes he is the fictional character hannibal Lecter and that Lindsay is Clarice Starling.

Episode 21. Evil-Doers (Air Date: 05/12/2002)

Lindsay's heightened fear of the Hannibal Lecter copycat drives her towards a breakdown when he is found not guilty and a wrench is thrown into an accused rapist's trial when his twin brother appears with surprising information.

Episode 22. This Pud's for You (Air Date: 05/19/2002)

The partners argue over what approach to take with Lindsay's case as they deal with the repercussions of her killing Lawrence O'Malley, the Hannibal Lecter wannabe while Rebecca has issues defending an alleged murderer/kidnapper.

Episode 23. The Verdict (Air Date: 05/19/2002)

Lindsay's trial for killing Lawrence O'Malley, the serial killer who was stalking her, comes to a shocking conclusion as she is found guilty for murder.
