Season 2 Episodes

The aftermath of the attack on the President, his daughter and his staff as The President has been shot in his side. Josh also was hit in the attack. As work is done on both Josh and Bartlett, we learn how members of the staff came to be a part of Bartlett's team. With Bartlett under anesthesia, Vice President Hoynes fields aggression in Iraq.


The aftermath of the attack on the President, his daughter and his staff continues. The intended target is revealed to be Charlie. The staff reflect back on how they all came together behind Bartlett's Presidential campaign.

Episode 3. The Midterms (Air Date: 10/18/2000)

As Josh works to recover from his near-fatal gunshot wounds, the President and staff work for the party and the midterm elections. Charlie takes the rationale behind the attack personally and has a hard time dealing with both Zoey and her father.

Episode 4. In This White House (Air Date: 10/25/2000)

The staff resents the President's job offer to a Republican adviser after she cleans the floor up with Sam on a television show. Josh and Toby attend a meeting between drug manufacturers and members of African nations battling AIDS.


Ainsley's first day as the associate White House counsel is a tough one as it seems like everyone is against her, including her direct superior. Josh's insurance company refuses to pay for his recent life-saving hospital care and Sam tries to convince him to sue the Ku Klux Klan for responsibility. CJ takes on a big-mouthed general who is not a supporter of Bartlet. The President has a hard time performing a radio recording.

Episode 6. The Lame Duck Congress (Air Date: 11/08/2000)

The President pushes for a Senate ratification of a nuclear-test-ban treaty even though many of its members are reaching the end of their term and are on vacation. A drunk Ukranian demands audience with Bartlet. Donna tries to win over the President on ergonamic changes.

Episode 7. The Portland Trip (Air Date: 11/15/2000)

The President and part of his staff board Air Force One to take a trip to Portland for his speech on education. Leo's divorce papers arrive as he monitors a potential hotbed of action in the Middle East. Josh tries so sway a congressman's stance on same-sex marriages.

Episode 8. Shibboleth (Air Date: 11/22/2000)

As Bartlet must decide the fate of a boatload of Chinese seeking religious asylum, CJ handles the fate of two Thanksgiving turkeys, one of which will receive a Presidential pardon.

Episode 9. Galileo (Air Date: 11/29/2000)

Bartlet has numerous issues that require his attention, including a Russian Nuclear missle silo and a Mars spacecraft, when he is supposed to give a speech to a mass of elementary school students. Josh begrudgingly must decide on the next postal stamp subject. Mallory approaches Sam at a concert.

Episode 10. Noel (Air Date: 12/20/2000)

Josh sees someone about what appears to be post-traumatic stress induced by his near fatal gunshot wound and about the connection he feels to a dead pilot who shared his birthday. Bartlet wants to personally sign all his Christmas cards. CJ has to handle a tourist irate over a White House painting.

Episode 11. The Leadership Breakfast (Air Date: 01/10/2001)

Bartlet's staff debates what topics will fuel conversation at a bi-partisan breakfast. CJ butts heads with the Republican leader's chief of staff. Leo asks Josh to bear the olive brach after Leo inadvertantly insults a new columnist. Sam and Josh accidentally light a fire in a fireplace with a sealed chimney and set off the fire alarm.

Episode 12. The Drop In (Air Date: 01/24/2001)

Leo tries to win Bartlet over to a missile defense system. Bartlet has to address a group of environmentalists. Bartlet welcomes Lord John Marbury back as US ambassador. CJ is sent on a mission to persuade a comedian to not attend a fundraising dinner.


Bartlet's third State of the Union address has his staff on their toes. The capture of DEA members by Colombian rebels adds fuel to the fire. Josh's constituent sampling leads to him interacting with Joey Lucas again. Bartlet ends up on his First Lady's bad side by neglecting to mention her hot issues.

Episode 14. The War At Home (Part 2) (Air Date: 02/14/2001)

Just out of his State of the Union address, the President faces the hard choice of rescuing captured DEA agents in hostile Colombia. Josh is confounded by the post-address polling and it's leader Joey. CJ tries to pressure the visiting television host to interview a policeman Bartlet wishes to honor.

Episode 15. Ellie (Air Date: 02/21/2001)

The Surgeon General's statements about marijuana upset Bartlet, but almost moreso his daughter Ellie's stance on the Surgeon General. Sam contends with Hollywood when a movie producer tries to get his film screened for the White House.


Donna seeks Sam's help in getting an old Cold War spy pardoned. Bartlet has trouble establishing his library's location. CJ entertains politically correct map makers.

Episode 17. The Stackhouse Filibuster (Air Date: 03/14/2001)

An old Senator filibusters on the floor of Senate to prevent one of Bartlet's bills from passing. CJ tries to locate a token of friendship that a visitor hopes to see prominantly displayed. Josh tries to finish his work to attend a Mets baseball training camp.

Episode 18. 17 People (Air Date: 04/04/2001)

Toby learns of Bartlet's secret medical condition even as Bartlet has to deal with a terrorist caught on US soil. Donna and Josh spar over numerous subjects. Sam and Ainsley fight over one in particular, the 14th Amendment. Josh and Sam try to bring the funny.

Episode 19. Bad Moon Rising (Air Date: 04/25/2001)

Bartlet deals with the political ramifications of keeping his multiple sclerosis a secret. Toby puts CJ on the trail of an insider information leak. A big business case from Sam's past in the private sector comes back to haunt him. Mexico's economy collapses.

Episode 20. The Fall's Gonna Kill You (Air Date: 05/02/2001)

Josh tries to get money for the Justice Department's case against Big Tobacco. Sam believes a tax cut will be helped by a lowered surplus estimate. Babish tries to determine who knew about Bartlet's condition.

Episode 21. 18th And Potomac (Air Date: 05/09/2001)

The Haitian President seeks asylum in the US embassy. Josh continues to seek support of his legal pursuit of the tobacco companies.

Episode 22. Two Cathedrals (Air Date: 05/16/2001)

The American Embassy in Haiti comes under attack. Toby is offered work outside of the White House.
