By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 12, 2013
By now, you have probably heard Brad Paisley and LL Cool J's new controversial song "Accidental Racist" (and if you haven't, go listen to the controversial tune). In the song, the country singer tries to complain about the white man's plight in the south, and how the white man is the victim of racism. Then LL Cool J finishes the song with forgiving America for slavery. On Thursday night, the rapper stopped by to have a chat with Jay Leno and tried to "clarify" what his "intentions" were with the song. "The song wasn't perfect," LL Cool J said. "You can't fit 300 or 400 years of history into a three-four minute song... Ultimately, I can't defend the song, but I can clarify my intentions." LL Cool J then tried to explain the lyrics, "If you don't judge my durag, I won't judge your red flag." "I in no way would ever compare the history of the confederate flag — which, when you think about the rapes, the torture, the murders, the lynching, all the things associated with the confederate flag — with a durag," he said. "However, when you think about a kid like Trayvon Martin, and you think about some of the things that happen in society based on clothing, when you put it in its proper context, it makes sense." LL Cool J continued: "I would never, ever, ever suggest to anyone that we should just forget slavery and act like that didn't happen. I understand the systemic racism that exists. I get that. But you know what? If the playing field is un-level, and you feel that it's unfair, then maybe putting down some of that baggage will help you make it up that hill a little easier." The rapper said he and Paisley just put the song out there to "create conversation." Well that it did — and LL Cool J is satisfied with all the coverage that the song is attracting from the media. The conversation wrapped up with LL Cool J comparing racism to a bad marriage. He said that he hopes by putting this song out with Paisley, the two can set an example of how the two different races can come together come together and "have a conversation" that will hopefully help change society's divide. "Art is objective," LL Cool J added. As long as people are having a conversation, "the art has done it's job." Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Billboard Beats: Bruno Mars Is 'Your Man'
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 11, 2013
Bruno Mars shouldn't be worrying about when he was our man because now he is our man once again. This week, Mars has stolen the No. 1 spot from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. That's right, "When I Was Your Man," is topping the charts again with "Thrift Shop" back down at No. 2. The "Harlem Shake" devolution continues this week, as well. It's clear there's no hope left for this over-played single — it's on it's way out. Leaving No. 4, Baauer's once-hot dance tune lands at No. 6. There is also a newcomer this week to the Top 10 list: Country group Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" lassos its way to No. 8.  Check out what other songs made the top 10 this week. • Late Night Last Night: Jason Bateman Isn't Excited About New 'Arrested Development' Season
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 11, 2013
Are you over the moon about the fact that Arrested Development is coming out with a new season? Well hold on there! Not so fast! The show's star Jason Bateman thinks that we might be in for a let down. Wednesday night, Bateman had a long chat with Jimmy Kimmel about how fans might be disappointed in the upcoming season of Arrested Development. He explained that the new season is setting up fans for a movie, and that the new season is basically act one for the movie. If the movie does happen, it will focus on acts two and three. Unfortunately, the way the producers set up the new season, all the action happens all at once instead of progressing in each consecutive episode. Bateman appeared worried that fans might not like this concept as compared to how the show used to run when it was on Fox. Bateman continued his pessimistic chat by revealing his secret to creating fake tears while filming: He just pictures his daughters getting dismembered and breaks down. • Could Katniss' 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Wedding Dress Look Like These Designer Looks?
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 10, 2013
A wedding dress is supposed to be symbolic. It is said to represent the purity of the bride, the love that she has for her future partner, AND it's supposed to represent the most important day of her life when everything she knew forever changes. For most people, putting on a wedding gown means that they are probably getting ready to walk down the aisle. But in The Hunger Games trilogy, Katniss Everdeen's wedding dress does not represent love. It is still, however, a symbol of change. Not only in her own life, but in the lives of all the residents of Panem. In the upcoming movie, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Katniss will put on her infamous wedding dress, not to marry her fiancé, but to start a revolution. Those who have read Catching Fire will recall the memorable scene in which Katniss, donning the elegant attire, bursts into flames in an act of protest against the Capitol. While we have yet to see an image of Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence draped in a wedding gown, we decided to find out what the dresses for this epic scene might look like. So, three wedding dress designers — David Tutera, Melissa Sweet, and David's Bridal Design Team — dreamed up the above five looks for us, based on the words of Katniss herself: Katniss drescribes the dress in the second book of the series: "He unzips the bag, revealing one of the wedding dresses I wore for the photo shoot. Heavy white silk with a low neckline and tight waist and sleeves that fall from my wrists to the floor. And pearls. Everywhere pearls. Stitched into the dress and in ropes at my throat and forming the crown for the veil. Even though they announced the Quarter Quell the night of the photo shoot, people still voted for their favorite dress, and this was the winner." In the book Catching Fire, the dress goes up in flames and turns Katniss into the rebels' symbol of freedom — a Mockingjay — in the middle of her interview for the Quarter Quell.   "I begin to twirl slowly, raising the sleeves of my heavy gown above my head… Then I notice something is rising up around me. Smoke. From fire," Katniss describes in the book. "Charred bits of black silk swirl into the air, and pearls clatter to the stage. Somehow I’m afraid to stop because my flesh doesn’t seem to be burning and I know Cinna must be behind whatever is happening. So I keep spinning and spinning. For a split second I’m gasping, completely engulfed in the strange flames. Then all at once, the fire is gone. I slowly come to a stop, wondering if I’m naked and why Cinna has arranged to burn away my wedding dress." Katniss looks down to find out she has become a Mockingjay. "But I’m not naked. I’m in a dress of the exact design of my wedding dress, only it’s the color of coal and made of tiny feathers," she says. "Wonderingly, I lift my long, flowing sleeves into the air, and that’s when I see myself on the television screen. Clothed in black except for the white patches on my sleeves. Or should I say my wings... Cinna has turned me into a Mockingjay." Not exactly your typical dream wedding. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire drops in theaters Nov. 22. • Miranda Kerr 'Will Always Be An Angel' Says Victoria's Secret Amid Departure Rumors
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 10, 2013
Once an Angel, always an Angel. On Wednesday, rumors started circulating that Miranda Kerr will no longer be working for Victoria's Secret, and that she reportedly wasn't a big earner for the company. Well, the rumors simply aren't true. "Miranda Kerr is one of the best models in the history of the business — and easily one of the most popular," Ed Razek, President and Chief Marketing Officer of Victoria's Secret, tells "She is also a consummate professional. Any rumors to the contrary are simply untrue." While the company will not say if or if not Kerr's three-year, $1 million contract has been renewed, Razek does say that she definitely is still a VS Angel. "While her international commitments have kept her away from us more than we'd like over the past few years, she will always be an Angel to me," Razek says. "We have no plans to stop working with her." The company has even asked Kerr to take part in 2013's runway show. "In fact, I've already invited her to walk the runway in this year's fashion show and, happily, she's agreed," Razek says. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Late Night Last Night: David Letterman Ruthlessly Grills Lindsay Lohan About Rehab
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 10, 2013
It's no secret that Lindsay Lohan has been ordered by the court to go to rehab — the news is everywhere. In the past few weeks, the media has tirelessly covered the treatment that lies ahead for the young actress. On Tuesday night, David Letterman decided to get as many rehab details as possible out of his guest, Lohan. Lohan started off by telling Letterman that she will be heading to rehab on May 2, and that she will remain there for three months. But after that, she was less generous with the info. "What are they rehabbing? What is on their list?" Letterman asked. Lohan glanced sideways, perhaps to look at her publicist for a cue, before she replied, "We didn't discuss this in the pre-interview." But Lohan's reply didn't stop Letterman, but she attempted to veer toward the positive: "To be honest, I'm happiest when I'm working and healthiest," Lohan said. "And I think this is an opportunity for me to focus on what I love in life. I don't think it's a bad thing. I think it's a blessing, not a curse." Still, Letterman continued on, asking about Lohan's addiction problems, a territory that the host and his guest have apparently traversed in the past. "Now I'm the one that's having the black outs," Letterman joked Lohan reminded him that they two had discussed this very topic before. "I [should be] in rehab." Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • 'Buckwild' Canceled by MTV in the Wake of Shain Gandee's Death — UPDATE
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 10, 2013
Update: MTV confirms to that Buckwild has been canceled. "After careful consideration, MTV will not be moving forward with season two of Buckwild in West Virginia," MTV says in a statement to "We love the cast and the show and this was not an easy decision, but given Shain's tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him. Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately." The statement continues: "On Sunday, we will be running a special Buckwild: WV to the NYC,  which was shot before production had begun on season two. With the support of his parents, Dale and Loretta Gandee, we will run the tribute following a day of programming dedicated to Shain in which we will air the entire first season of Buckwild. Loretta Gandee says, "Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time for our family. We have truly felt all the love and know that Shain is resting peacefully. Shain was an incredible, outgoing, and positive person who was loved by whoever he met. We are honored that we were able to let the world see what a wonderful son we had. He was the best son anyone could ask for. As we look to honor him in our lives every day moving forward, we are happy to share some of his last moments doing what he loved best: having fun and making people laugh." Earlier: The future of MTV's hit show Buckwild is looking pretty grim. The network has decided to pull the plug on the show in the wake of star Shain Gandee's death. While there is not official word from MTV just yet, multiple reports are saying that MTV canceled production while they were in the middle of filming Season 2. This news doesn't come as too much of a shocker as MTV did place a temporary hold on production after Gandee was found dead in on April 1. Four episodes for Season 2 had reportedly been shot prior to Gandee's death. Buckwild first premiered in January. The show followed the lives of nine adults living in Charleston, W.V. and the ways that these individuals spent their free time enjoying their rustic surroundings. Gandee — who reportedly died from carbon monoxide poisoning after his truck got stuck in mud and the mud covered the truck's tailpipe — was one of the nine stars that helped the show score over three millions viewers during Season 1. • Late Night Last Night: The Kardashians Defend Amanda Bynes
By: Lindsey DiMattina Apr 09, 2013
With Kris Jenner getting ready to kick off her talk show this summer, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to test her hosting talents on Chelsea Lately Monday night. Jenner, along with her three Kardashian daughters — Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe — cohosted the night with Chelsea Handler. But for one segement, of course, it was all about the Kardashians... and Amanda Bynes. Jenner opened up the conversation about a recent embarrassing Bynes stunt, where the troubled actress had done cartwheels at the gym and lost her wig. At the time, Bynes had taken to twitter to complain about the media's recent coverage of her stunt. Jenner responded to the tweet by making a joke about welcoming Bynes into the world of the Kardashians — but her daughters had some kind words to say. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat.
