  • Late Night Last Night: Jimmy Fallon Jokes About Jay Leno Replacement Rumors
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 21, 2013
Could Jay Leno truly be leaving his late night throne? Rumors started circulating on Wednesday that NBC is planning to kick Leno out of his seat and replace the king with promising prince Jimmy Fallon. Of course, this gave Fallon some material for his opening monologue during Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night. "Before we get started, I have to talk about the rumors that came out today, which says that I’ll be moving up to 11:30... or as my parents call it, 'Ehh, it's still too late,'" Fallon said, continuing on with more jokes: "Actually the rumors are true. NBC is turning The Tonight Show into a diving competition. So exciting." RELATED: Jimmy Fallon to Replace Jay Leno But while Fallon made a mild gag about the rumored change, Leno continued on his NBC attack. "According to several reports — this is kind of scary — scientists say they are getting closer and closer to being able to do Jurassic Park style cloning of extinct species," he said. "Imagine that? Things once thought to be extinct could now be brought back from the dead. So there’s hope for NBC. It could turn around." This blow marks the third day in a row that Leno has taken a swing at his network. If Leno does want to hold onto his reigning late night title, he may want to rethink his war path. But then again, it might just be too late for a white flag. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Late Night: Jay Leno Slams NBC Again — VIDEO
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 20, 2013
Sometimes, late night hosts like to take a few swings at the networks that pay their bills, but in recent days, it sounds like one host may have gone a bit too far for his own good. On Tuesday night, Jay Leno made a joke about NBC's poor ratings — marking the second time he has slammed his network this week! "Did you hear about this? A 28-year-old woman from Serbia has a rare brain condition where she sees everything upside down," Leno said during his opening monologue for The Tonight Show. "The good news? She's now been given a job at the White House as President Obama's economic adviser..." He added: "Isn't that crazy? It's unbelievable. She sees everything upside down. In fact, she thinks NBC is at the top of the ratings." RELATED: Will Jimmy Fallon Steal Jay Leno's Spot? On Monday night, Leno compared his network's executives to "snakes." And back in February, Leno also slammed the network for moving down to fifth place during sweeps month. "For the first time in history NBC is going to finish fifth in the ratings period," Leno said. "We are behind the Spanish-language network Univision — or as we call it here in Los Angeles: Cinco de Ratings." He also said: "It’s so bad, The Biggest Loser isn’t just a TV show anymore; it’s our new motto" and "It’s so bad, NBC called Manti Te’o and asked him to bring in some imaginary viewers." According to the The New York Times, NBC entertainment executive Robert Greenblatt sent Leno an email after the February episode, complaining about Leno's actions. • Late Night Last Night: Selena Gomez Disses Justin Bieber Badly
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 19, 2013
Selena Gomez isn't sitting around pining for Justin Bieber. In fact, it sounds like she is handling the breakup quite well. On Monday night, the Spring Breakers star stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman to have a chat — and of course, the late night host had to bring up her recent split. But Letterman also made a joke saying the last time that Bieber visited his show, he made him cry. Then Gomez chimed right in: "Well, then, that makes two of us." • Jake Pavelka: 'DWTS' Is 'Going to Put a Strain' on Sean and Catherine's Relationship — EXCLUSIVE
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 18, 2013
Last week, Sean Lowe made the brave decision to go straight from starring on The Bachelor to competing on the new season of Dancing with the Stars. During a conference call, he told Hollywood.com that it was "an incredible, unique challenge… too good to pass up" that only comes around "once in a lifetime." While some people may question the sincerity behind Sean’s decision, former Bachelor star Jake Pavelka, who also went straight from the ABC love show to the DWTS dance floor, believes that Sean’s intentions are true. "I back Sean a million percent," Pavelka tells Hollywood.com. "He did the right thing. This is a life changing opportunity." Apparently, it's not all about the fame for Sean. "I don’t think he’s chasing fame at all," Pavelka says. "I think he’s going after his heart and living life." RELATED: 5 Gratuitous Sean Lowe Shirtless Pics DWTS is an opportunity that Sean can’t pass up, and he has to do it now while the timing is right. "It’s a window of opportunity," Pavelka explains. "Sean’s relevancy right now is extremely high. He was a very well liked Bachelor and he had a lot of fans, and a really good season. He made a good decision to go on there because all the millions of fans that he carried through The Bachelor will return to see him on Dancing with the Stars." Pavelka continues, "People that would prejudge Sean for going onto Dancing with the Stars are probably just a little jealous of the opportunity. If they were offered Dancing with the Stars, they’d take it in two seconds. They’re lying if they said they wouldn’t." However, even if Sean was going on DWTS to chase fame, Jake doesn’t think that the show provides a great platform to launch a career in Hollywood. "Who can you name that went on Dancing With the Stars recently that re-launched their career?" Pavelka says. "It seems like it would be the perfect platform, but it isn’t. People go on there and then they disappear." RELATED: 'Bachelor' Ratings Rise But Sean doesn’t need to worry about his haters. He instead needs to focus on his new relationship with Catherine Giudici, his new fiancée. "What will happen, though, is Sean is training 8-10 hours a day — it’s going to put strain on the relationship," Pavelka says. "He is in a brand new relationship. You know how you [would] feel if you saw your partner dancing the tango, which is a very sexual dance." According to Pavelka, Catherine might get a bit jealous. "You act like you’re in love on the dance floor," Pavelka says. "Even if you don’t show it, that stuff wears on a brand new relationship. You can’t tell me it doesn’t." Pavelka has some suggestions for keeping Catherine from growing insecure. "Keep her involved in the dancing," he says. "Communicate. Lots and lots and lots of communication — he needs to make her feel secure in the relationship." RELATED: Sean Lowe Joins 'Dancing with the Stars' While Sean has to pay attention to Catherine and help her feel included, he also can’t avoid the spotlight altogether, because it might hurt his chances at winning DWTS. “If Sean elects to [stay out of the headlines], it’s going to hurt his votes," Pavelka says. "Sean needs to be out there in the public, letting people watch him train and be part of his life." Depsite the struggles Sean might face ahead, Pavelka feels confident that the new couple will make it through. “I know Catherine encouraged him to do [the show], and they’re a strong couple,” Pavelka says. “I would [even] expect them to be setting a [wedding] date within the next year.” Dancing with the Stars premieres on ABC Monday night. • Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Devastating Miscarriage That Nearly Killed Her
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 18, 2013
It would seem that Gwyneth Paltrow has the perfect life. She has two beautiful children, an adoring husband, and a successful career in Hollywood. But while Paltrow's life seems almost "perfect," the 40-year-old actress recently revealed that she underwent a devastating miscarriage during her third pregnancy, and that it nearly killed her. During an interview with in the UK's Daily Mail Sunday You magazine, Paltrow admitted that her two children — Apple, 8, and Moses, 6 — with Coldplay frontman hubby Chris Martin, keep asking for a younger brother or sister. "My children ask me to have a baby all the time," she said. "And you never know, I could squeeze one more in. I am missing my third. I’m thinking about it." Paltrow continued on to talk about her tragic miscarriage for the first time ever. "But I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third," she said. "It didn’t work out and I nearly died. So I am like, 'Are we good here or should we go back and try again?'" RELATED: The New 'Iron Man 3' Trailer But despite the loss, Paltrow still feels like she may want to have another child. Her husband Martin contributes to the type of stability that a growing family needs. "Regardless of what happens in our marriage, I chose the best father," she said. "[Chris] is so good to the children and to know that you had kids with such a good man is a real weight off you. We are committed co-parents, we make all the decisions together and lean on each other for support." Paltrow even confessed in the October issue of InStyle magazine that she may still want another child. "My brain says, 'Oh, I think I'm done, the kids are so big now, and I don't want to go back to changing diapers,'" she said. "But a part of me would love to have another. Of course, I'm old now!" • Late Night Last Night: Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon's Summer Camp Sing-Along
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 15, 2013
This past week has been an insane one on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, thanks to nightly appearances by guest cohost Justin Timberlake. On Monday night, Timberlake and Fallon had a long chat about Saturday Night Live, Timberlake's new album, and Timberlake's beef with Kanye West. Tuesday, the two brought "Sexy Back" as "Ragtime Gals." Wednesday, they got a little handsy with a few stray prosthetic arms. And Thursday, which marked Day 4 of Timberlake's takeover, the men went back to 1983 in a skit about their days at sleep-away camp. • Billboard Beats: 'Harlem Shake' Is No. 1 for 4 Weeks in a Row
By: Lindsey DiMattina Mar 14, 2013
At this point, if you haven't been a part of a "Harlem Shake" YouTube video then you know someone who has. Maybe the video was filmed at your college fraternity house. Maybe your roommates decided it would be a cool idea to thrust one upon your household, twitching and throwing their bodies in inexplicable directions. Maybe you have memories — or flashbacks — of hiding in the corner at a party so as to avoid being seen on camera when one was filmed. Whatever the case, it's obvious the "Harlem Shake" is insanely popular and everyone, and I do mean everyone, is overly obsessed with Baauer's dance tune. It's so hot that the song has topped Billboard.com's Hot 100 chart yet again this week, making it the fourth consecutive week that the single has held onto No. 1.
