On Wednesday night, Jackman appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman dressed as Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln. RELATED: Late Night: Andy Samberg Makes Out with an Eagle Along with the getup, Jackman also sang a few lines from Les Miserables to prove that he is more talented than Day-Lewis, who is up against him for Best Actor. But can this last minute performance earn Jackman the votes he needs to take out Day-Lewis and the other nominees — Bradley Cooper, Joaquin Phoenix, and Denzel Washington — in his category? • Oscar Pistorius Documentary About the Death of His Girlfriend in the Works
By: Lindsey DiMattina Feb 21, 2013
Over the past week, the world has been following the story of South African Paralympian Oscar Pistorius, who has been accused of the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. On Tuesday, Pistorius appeared at a bail hearing for charges of premeditated murder. And now, BBC is going to make a documentary out of his story, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The BBC Three network ordered the documentary and has hired Mentorn Media to produce the hour-long special. Rick Edwards, who hosted the Paralympics for Channel 4 in Great Britain, will be presenting the documentary. While there is no set date yet for the release of this documentary, it is expected to be produced as a "fast turnaround" special. "BBC Three is never afraid to tackle current affairs, and we are committed to showing bold, thought-provoking programs for 16-34-year olds," BBC Three controller Zai Bennett said. "Mentorn will be producing this program at incredible speed... I’m sure they will deliver a documentary that will bring a new angle to this ever developing news story." RELATED: Oscar Pistorius Charged with Premeditated Murder "The story of Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamp has captured everyone’s attention," executive producer Steve Anderson. "It is hugely important, and Mentorn has the expertise to deliver it quickly to BBC Three." The documentary will also be placed on pre-sale internationally by Passion Distribution.  Pistorius earned global fame for being the first Paralympian to ever compete in the Olympic games, and then infamy following charges of premeditated murder. After allegedly shooting his girlfriend four times last week, Pistorius claimed to have confused Steenkamp for a home intruder. Now, the media frenzy is following each development with international coverage of Pistorius' story. • Arie Luyendyk Jr.: Predicting AshLee's Future and Some Advice for Sean
By: Lindsey DiMattina Feb 20, 2013
Sean Lowe's journey as The Bachelor is coming to a close. On Tuesday night, Sean sat down with host Chris Harrison to discuss the girls he sent home in tears throughout the season and to talk about the remaining episodes (which will feature the fantasy dates and finale rose). But as the end approaches, there are still a ton of questions that need to be answered. Who will Sean end up with, if anyone at all? Who else will go home with a broken heart? And who will be the next Bachelorette? (Because if the trajectory of casting this franchise has taught us anything, she’ll be in this bunch of disappointed women.)'s resident Bachelor blogger, Arie Luyendyk Jr., predicts the outcome of the season and shares a bit of sensible advice for Sean to follow once the season is over. Who is “the One” for Sean? Arie thinks that AshLee is the leader in this Bachelor pack. "If I had to guess anyone right now, I would say AshLee," he says. "She just seems like she is the most invested in him. And their time together [during] the hometown dates went really well with AshLee's father." "The difficult part is that Sean is very hard to read," Arie says. "So when watching the show, it's very hard for me to tell who he's into — but I can easily see which girls are emotionally invested. AshLee seems like she is the most in love with Sean." RELATED: Arie's Blog: Picking The Next 'Bachelorette' The Next Bachelorette But if AshLee doesn't win Sean's heart in the end, she will definitely make a strong candidate for The Bachelorette. "She's very open and ready," Arie says. "You can tell that she wants to be married. She's a little bit more mature. She's a little older, so she has experienced a lot in her life. You can tell that she's just ready to be in that place in her life." According to Arie, AshLee has the characteristics needed to take on the leading role. "She's a beautiful girl," Arie says. "[The Bachelorette producers] just look for somebody who believes in the experience, and she's very open." AshLee's tough childhood and her story of going through the adoption process also appeal to Americans who watch The Bachelorette. "I root for her just because she has had a tough background," Arie says. "So it just makes me want to see her happy, and I think that other people would as well. She'd be a good fit because of what she's been through." RELATED: Arie's Blog: 'A Rose Is A Tierrable Thing to Waste' Is Bachelor Pad in Anyone’s Future? While AshLee may be fit to hold the title of Bachelorette, it would be more appropriate to cast some contestants from Sean's season on Bachelor Pad. "Obviously from this season, Tierra would be the most entertaining," Arie says. "I'm trying to think of bold personalities in the show — Tierra stole the spotlight the whole time." But a recent development in Tierra’s love life may prevent her from appearing on the show. "She's engaged, so I don't know if that would work," Arie says. Arie suggests that Lesley M. might be a good choice if Tierra can't do it. "It would be cool to see Lesley again just because we didn't get to see enough of her," he says. "She is such a good kisser — and then we could watch kiss some more! That would be cool." Would Arie be willing to test out Lesley M.’s kissing skills on Bachelor Pad? "I don't think I would go on Bachelor Pad," he says. RELATED: Arie's Blog: Tierra Is Just Tierrable Some Advice for Sean As Sean's finale grows nearer, Arie shares some advice for handling the upcoming days if he is in fact engaged. "The best thing they can do as far as when the show wraps is to take a nice long vacation and try to limit the amount of media they do," he says. "For example, my family has a house in Europe. I would just leave and go to Europe for a little bit and just hide out. The best thing [Sean] can do after the show is to go away with [the woman he chooses] and try to get away from all the attention for a little until their relationship is solid enough for all of that. I would say just take a really long vacation and spend time with each other." "Everyone has a good chance to make it work," Arie adds. "They just have to work hard at it." • Late Night Last Night: Andy Samberg Makes Out with a Giant Eagle
By: Lindsey DiMattina Feb 20, 2013
Andy Samberg definitely wasn't on a lonely island on Tuesday night. The former Saturday Night Live cast member and comedian put on a show for Conan O'Brien. When the late night host asked Samberg about hosting the Film Independent Spirit Awards this upcoming weekend, the questions lead to a very silly skit that probably wouldn't have made it onto SNL had it happened during Samberg's time. O'Brien had a giant eagle (a man in an eagle costume) in the audience and challenged Samberg to show the eagle his kissing skills. Of course Samberg was up for the challenge. He got hot and heavy with the costumed character. RELATD: Late Night: Alison Brie Raps About 'Community' For those of you wondering about the significance of the eagle, it actually represents the awards show's mascot. • 'Survivor' Contestant Corinne Kaplan: 'All of America Hates Me'
By: Lindsey DiMattina Feb 13, 2013
If you watched Survivor: Gabon, you may have been put off by contestant Corinne Kaplan's take-no-prisoners attitude. She was determined to win — so much so, she wasn't afraid to confront some of her other cast members. (Her final jury speech to top three finisher Sugar Kiper, anyone?) Well, now that Kaplan is getting a second chance at a million bucks on Survivor: Caramoan — Fans vs. Favorites, will this season’s viewers see the return of the same Kaplan? "I have not matured at all," Kaplan tells exclusively. "[I’m] exactly the same. I’m irreverent and I say things. I’m very uninhibited. I’ve been the same person since I was in first grade." Like any other contestant seen on television by millions would be, Kaplan feared this season's new cast members — the "fans" of the series — would judge her based on her actions in Gabon. "Going in, I’m well aware of what they think my personality is," she says. "I always like to point out that in my season, when I got booted [before] the finale, I felt like, 'Wow, all of America kind of hates me.'" But Kaplan believes that people misjudged her. "If you were to poll the actual people on my tribe and on the show with me, I was very well-liked," she says. "So I’m a big fan of, 'Give me five minutes and I’ll win you over.'" So this time around, Kaplan planned to use the preconception surrounding her attitude to her advantage. "My strategy is that if you go in thinking I was a bully and complete b***h the first time, then at the very least, you don’t think someone will give me a million dollars," she says. "So if I’m not likeable, but I’m also not [biting], you might ride with me. You might decide, 'She’s kind of the perfect person to bring to the end.'" And though she might not have gotten along with everyone in Gabon, this season, Kaplan hoped to develop real relationships with her fellow competitors. "Something that’s really important to me is making real connections," she says. "It’s a big sticking point for me. If I pick my alliances, I want to pick people that I really like." Of course, her first time playing the game, Kaplan learned the hard way the game of telephone that goes through the tribes when you rib another cast member outside of confessionals. "One of the major errors I made [my first season] was I talked smack about the other tribe, not realizing that they would shuffle the tribe around a lot," she says. "You really can’t talk smack about someone on the other tribe, because eventually you might end up playing side-by-side with them."  But would she treat those she didn't care for — like Sugar in Gabon — any differently this season? "I’m a firm believer that no one is a fan of Sugar," she says. "And if you met her and spent five seconds with her in an elevator, you would immediately want to stab your eyes out. [So] honestly, I would have done the exact same thing. I would have tried to torture her and get her thrown out." With the new season premiering Wednesday night, it’s only a matter of time before we learn whether or not Kaplan will clash with another cast member. But fans should not be worried about whether this season of Fans vs. Favorites will live up to the popular first season, Survivor: Micronesia — Fans vs. Favorites. "[While] they’re both called Fans vs. Favorites and the concept is similar, the personalities and the people involved are always different," Kaplan says. “That’s why Survivor is a show that has been around for so long — it’s different every time.” Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat.
