  • Rick Ross and Young Jeezy Allegedly Brawl at BET Hip Hop Awards — REPORT
By: Lindsey DiMattina Oct 01, 2012
So much for Saturday night's filming of the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards being about the celebration of hip hop. Multiple reports are saying that an ugly confrontation broke out backstage during the filming of the ceremony, and that the fight possibly escalated into the parking lot. According to MTV, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross' camps are the ones who allegedly got into it backstage. The report also suggests that 50 Cent's G-Unit boys and Ross' Maybach Music squad might have been involved in a separate incident. There are also conflicting reports as to whether or not shots were fired in the parking lot. BET.com confirms that a fight definitely went down between two camps backstage, though the site does not identify who was involved. They do report, however, that Atlanta police and security guards at the awards show helped break up the altercation. TMZ caught the alleged fight on video, which can be seen below. BET has officially released a statement regarding Saturday's events. "BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta," the statement reads. "For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible." Despite Saturday's alleged incident, the network still plans on airing the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards on Oct. 9. Unfortunately your browser does not support IFrames. • Amanda Bynes' Attorney Pleads Not Guilty for Her on Hit-and-Runs Charges
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 28, 2012
Amanda Bynes must be allergic to courtrooms because she failed yet again to appear in a Van Nuys, Calif. courtroom on Thursday for a hearing surrounding her bad driving charges. Her attorney Richard Hutton attended in her place instead, People reports. Because she wasn't present, Hutton also had to plead not guilty to the two hit-and-run charges against Bynes on her behalf. Bynes, who has been spotted galavanting around the streets of New York City recently, was ordered by L.A. Superior Court Judge Rebecca Omens to return to L.A. within 48 hours of her next hearing. The date for that hearing is set for Oct. 19. In the meantime, since Bynes doesn't seem to care about fighting the pending criminal charges against her — besides the two hit-and-runs, she has also been charged with DUI — she can keep herself busy by thinking about a new business proposition that has been offered to her. VH1 has offered Bynes a gig on Big Morning Buzz Live. "Yes, VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live is very interested in landing Amanda for the show," a VH1 representative tells Hollywood.com. Now the question is: Would you want to watch Bynes on Morning Buzz, or is this a terrible idea? Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • 'The Bachelor': Trista Sutter and Jesse Csincsak Weigh In On Sean Lowe
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 27, 2012
When news broke on Tuesday that Bachelorette star Emily Maynard's ex Sean Lowe had been named ABC's latest Bachelor, fans had mixed feelings. While some of us jumped on the news, excited to hear that one of our favorite Southern gentleman would be returning to make his own journey to find love, others wondered how this sweet and calm Dallas entrepreneur could have been selected to carry television's most dramatic dating show. Will he be entertaining enough to carry a whole season of the famed series on his own? Hollywood.com spoke with two Bachelor experts — former Bachelorette star Trista Sutter and former Bachelorette winner Jesse Csincsak — to get their thoughts on how ABC and Lowe can possibly make this work. Of course, for anyone who has watched The Bachelor/ette, or any reality show for that matter, you know that to "make it work" on the small screen, it's all about what's happening behind the scenes. Csincsak explains,  "It doesn’t matter about his story. Guarantee you that they went to his hometown and filmed, and they are going to make the guy look like a rock star. That’s the magic of the editing room. They can make any guy look like Jesus on TV." The next stroke of divine magic comes from the casting. "They always have to cast interesting characters," Csincsak says. "There are going to have the villain, they are going to have the drunk, they are going to have the kook." While the show's producers know how to pick their archetypes, Sutter thinks Lowe has some standout qualities on his own. Namely, those good looks and Southern charm.  "Number one, his dimples... [and] his all-American good boy personality is huge," Sutter notes. "The fact that he’s open to both the process and articulating his feelings, I’ve always said is kind of a requirement for someone to be in that position because ABC and the producers don’t want someone who isn’t going to talk about the experience with the viewers." Sutter adds, "I have a pretty hot husband and I’m not complaining, but the fact that he has a body that they will be able to show off, they are all over that. They are going to have him shirtless more than anyone." Lowe's good looks and wit explain why he attracted so many fans (124,044 Twitter fans and counting) in the first place. It's that very fan base that Csincsak believes convinced ABC to pick Lowe as the new Bachelor over other contenders like Ali Fedotowsky's ex-fiance Roberto Martinez and or Maynard runner-up Arie Luyendyk, Jr.  "They strategically do nothing except look at the guy’s following once he comes off the show — and the guy with the most following becomes the next Bachelor," Csincsak says. "You go on Facebook and Twitter, you look at his following, he has over a 100,000 following. That’s ratings. That’s how they make money." So will Lowe's million dollar smile really bring the big bucks and even bigger ratings to ABC? Find out when the Season 17 of The Bachelor premieres in January 2013. • Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth Welcome the Birth of Their Son
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 27, 2012
Reese Witherspoon is a mom again! The 36-year-old Mud star and her husband Jim Toth brought their son Tennessee James Toth into the world on Thursday, her rep tells People. "Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth welcomed Tennessee James into their family today,” says the rep. “Both mom and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled.” Even though this is Witherspoon's first child with Toth, it's not her first rodeo. Witherspoon already has daughter Ava, 13, and son Deacon, 8, from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe. And ever since she married Toth in March 2011, she has reportedly been open about wanting to have another child. "Right after the wedding, Reese expressed a desire to have a baby with Jim,” a source told People. “Reese has been very open with her kids about her plans to expand the family.” At first, Witherspoon kept mum about her pregnancy, but in June she finally spoke about her changing body. "Frankly, I'm feeling very round," she said. But now that the Tennessee is here, maybe Witherspoon will work on getting her pre-baby body back. And besides a newborn, Witherspoon also has her hands full with the upcoming productions of four movies: Wish List, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus, Big Eyes, and Devil's Knot. Congrats to Witherspoon on her growing family. Make sure to check out our celebrity baby map below. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • The Beach Boys Lose Three Members: Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and David Marks
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 27, 2012
It doesn't sound like The Beach Boys' founding member Mike Love, who owns the rights to the band's name, feels like Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and David Marks are made for these times. According to the Huffington Post, Love — who is also the band's frontman — and Bruce Johnston will be saying goodbye to Wilson, Jardine, and Marks after their reunion tour completes this week. The two announced that the dismissed members will be replaced by the band's backup crew (including Love's son Christian). "The post-50th anniversary configuration will not include Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks," the statement reads. "The 50th Reunion Tour was designed to be a set tour with a beginning and an end to mark a special 50-year milestone for the band." Besides the fact the the band is going their separate ways, the way in which the information was conveyed to the departing members seems off. Wilson, Jardine, and Marks reportedly didn't find out about their dismissals until after the statement was made. "I'm disappointed and can't understand why he (Love) doesn't want to tour with Al, David and me," Wilson told CNN. "We are out here having so much fun. After all, we are the real Beach Boys." According to The Telegraph, Love made the decision based on financial motivations. "You've got to be careful not to get overexposed," he said. "There are promoters who are interested [in more shows by the reunited line-up], but they've said, 'Give it a rest for a year.' The Eagles found out the hard way when they went out for a second year and wound up selling tickets for $5." Whether or not the decision was made based on finances, how can fans be excited to see these men dismissed so easily? The Beach Boys will never be the same without them. • Lady Gaga Asks for a 'Body Revolution' and It's Working
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 26, 2012
Just days after pictures of her supposedly plumper body hit the Web, Lady Gaga fought back against body-shaming detractors in a personal campaign that takes a stance against discrimination. Though the pop star has admitted to an eating disorder in the past — though it was seemingly ignored by many news outlets at the time who are hailing her recent campaign as a "confession" — Gaga reaffirmed her body image issues in a series of photos posted on her site, Littlemonsters.com, "Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15." Gaga's "Body Revolution" campaign — which began when the singer posted the pictures Wednesday — has already inspired many of Gaga's own little monsters to share their own struggles. Responding to Mother Monster's call to "inspire bravery. and BREED some m$therf*cking COMPASSION" with the Body Revolution campaign, fans have flooded the page with their own confessions: "This is my side profile. I hate it, my nose is big. I was called "jew nose" but my mama tells me I just have a gaga nose. This is my body revolution," Helen-Marie Hedley writes, along with a photo of her face. Annette G also posts a picture of her body post cancer surgery with the caption, "2 CANCERS, 5 Major Surgeries, 2 Years, BODY REVOLUTION: PRICELESS!Thank You Mother Monster, I'm still smiling :)" And these are just two of hundreds of responses. But in the past few days, Gaga isn't the only celebrity to bring women's — and men's — relentless body image problems to light. On her talk show, Katie Couric opened up this week about her own battle with bulimia. And thank goodness for their honesty. Fans need to learn that even the strongest and most seemingly confident women can share their own struggles. That there is a giant support system they can rely on, even if it's only through their computer screens. (And considering the sheer number of pro-ana sites on the Web, it's refreshing to see one that doesn't encourage unhealthy habits.) That success doesn't come easy to anyone. And if these celebrities can be brave enough to face their fears, so can we. Check out more of Gaga's "Body Revolution" pics below. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Antonio Sabato Jr. and Cheryl Moana Are Married
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 26, 2012
Sorry ladies, but Antonio Sabato Jr. is officially off the market. The 40-year-old hunky General Hospital: Night Shift star and his fiancee Cheryl Moana Marie tied the knot Tuesday on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai, his rep tells People. But unlike some celebrity affairs, Sabato Jr. and Marie decided to keep the affair very private. They opted to say "I do" in front of only 18 people at a private estate on Anini Beach. The beginning of the couple's romance was no Bachelor-esque affair. While Sabato Jr. failed to meet the love of his life on his reality show, My Antonio, in 2009, timing was just holding out on him. He met Marie after he was done filming the show. The couple then welcomed the birth of their first child, Antonio, in May 2011. Now, after the Hawaiian ceremony on Tuesday, the family is officially complete. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Rihanna's Lyrics and Voice 'Shine Bright' in Her New 'Diamonds' Single — LISTEN
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 26, 2012
Do you remember the first time that you heard Rihanna's hit "Umbrella?" I do. I was in a tiny little bar in Munich, Germany in the summer of 2007 when the Barbadian singer's voice started blasting out from the loudspeakers. That night, I headed back to my hostel with a happy buzz and a hot, new tune stuck in my head. And guess what? It remained that way for the rest of the summer. While "Umbrella" wasn't Rihanna's first big hit — it was released on her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad and "SOS," her first big-league single, dropped the year before on the album A Girl Like Me — it did turn me into a Rihanna fan. Now, five years later, I am anxiously awaiting the release of Rihanna's seventh studio album (which is rumored to be called 7 Wonders). And while it's not set to drop until November, my Rihanna thirst has been quenched with the release of her new single, "Diamonds." If you were a fan of Rihanna's "We Found Love," then you are probably going to take to this new single instantly. "Diamonds" starts out with a melody that can easily be compared to that of "We Found Love" — and the melody carries on throughout the song. The beats for "Diamonds," though, do go a bit slower than "We Found Love." But, Rihanna's undeniable epic rhythm can still be found in this single. Vocally, Rihanna is as strong as ever in this new love ballad — and the lyrics only add to bolster the singer's musical talents. You can clearly hear the passion that Rihanna pours into this song. It's as if her heart is crying out for her loved one (hopefully not Chris Brown) when she sings lines like, "When you hold me, I'm alive," or "At first site I felt the energy of sun rays / I saw the life inside your-eyes." And whether or not Rihanna is serenading about Brown in this latest single, the fact is that she definitely has another hit on her hands. They are already blasting the song on the radio — I even heard it on my breakfast break playing over the speakers in the cafe where I order my ritual ice tea. Now, all I need to do is put this song on Spotify replay for the rest of the day. You can listen to "Diamonds" below and read the lyrics on the singer's new website Rihanna7.com, that launched Tuesday. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Sean Lowe Officially Named The New 'Bachelor'
By: Lindsey DiMattina Sep 25, 2012
The same day Bachelor(ette) fans watched Emily Maynard dumped Sean Lowe on national television, the Bachelor rumor mills started churning. Fans of the franchise — and the golden-topped Texan — presumed that he would be the next Bachelor. And it turns out they speculated correctly: Lowe has officially been named the new Bachelor, ABC confirms to People. While Maynard passed up Lowe for her final two contenders — Jef Holmes and Ari Luyendyk, Jr. — and eventually left the series engaged to Holmes, America remained ever-committed to caring about wounded lover Lowe's heart. Fans were shocked to see Maynard dismiss the Dallas entrepreneur because they seemed like the perfect match — but now, Lowe has the chance to find something that matches him better than plaid. Prior to ABC selecting Lowe, rumors circulated that the ABC series would choose Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky's former fiancé Robert Martinez or Maynard runner-up Luyendyk, both interesting figures who come with their own fanbases. But turns out ABC went with Mr. Safe. Now the question is, will the Southern boy charm and good looks that made him so likeable on The Bachelorette be enough to carry an entire season?  We'll find out when The Bachelor premieres in January 2013.
