  • John Lennon's Killer Mark David Chapman Denied Parole
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 23, 2012
John Lennon's killer will remain behind bars. Mark David Chapman was denied parole for the seventh time, The Huffington Post reports. The New York State Department of Corrections announced that a three-member board denied Chapman's freedom after a hearing was held Wednesday. On Dec. 8, 1980, Chapman shot Lennon four times in the back outside of the famed Beatles musician's apartment in New York City. Lennon was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. A year later, Chapman plead guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced 20 years to life in prison. "Despite your positive efforts while incarcerated, your release at this time would greatly undermine respect for the law and tend to trivialize the tragic loss of life which you caused as a result of this heinous, unprovoked, violent, cold and calculated crime," a member of the board, Sally Thompson, said. "The panel notes your good conduct, program achievements, educational accomplishments, positive presentation, remorse, risk and needs assessment, letters of support, significant opposition to your release and all other statutory factors were considered. However, parole shall not be granted for good conduct and program completions alone." Chapman will be back up for parole again in two years. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • 'RHONJ' Star Jacqueline Laurita Finds Out Her Son Is Autistic
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 22, 2012
When you tune in to watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey, you're probably hoping to catch some crazy cat fight between Teresa Giudice and her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, or tuning in to see if Caroline Manzo's kids have been up to no good. But as fans, we sometimes forget that these women are normal beings just like the rest of us, and that they live and breathe through hardships that aren't always captured on camera. In a very shocking interview with People, Jacqueline Laurita reveals some upsetting news: her three-year-old son Nicholas has recently been diagnosed with autism. "We had no idea what was going on," Jacqueline says of learning that her son is autistic. What's so shocking to Jacqueline is the fact that Nicholas appeared completely normal until he was about 18 months old. It wasn't until then that he started having problems with his speech and not responding when people called his name. "You never want to think that your child isn't perfectly healthy," Jacqueline's husband Chris says. "We didn't want to believe it was true." "I spend all my time researching what we can do for him," Jacqueline (who is also the mother of Ashlee, 21, and C.J., 10) adds. "[Now] I worry about him being independent when he's older." While Madonna has been flying around the world showing off her boobs and butt to all of her fans, there's another blonde Hollywood lady who has just stirred up some controversy here in the homeland. On the cover of V magazine's 2012 Travel Issue, actress Nicole Kidman poses completely topless, wearing nothing but a mini black skirt and black patent high heels. But the naked top half of her isn't the most risque part of the image. The skirt that Kidman rocks in this provocative shot barely covers her up; You can clearly see her butt cheeks! Of course this isn't the first time a celebrity has dared to show off some sexy skin on the cover of a magazine. Here's a look at 10 covers where some of Hollywood's hottest leading ladies strip down and dare to go bare. • Natalie Wood's Death: No Longer an Accidental Drowning
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 22, 2012
More than 30 years ago, Hollywood starlet and three-time Academy Award nominee Natalie Wood met a tragic end when she drowned near her yacht off of Catalina Island in Southern California. At the time, her death was ruled an accidental drowning — but, nine months ago, detectives reopened the case. Now, the Coroner's Office has amended Wood's cause of death to read, "drowning and other undetermined factors," the Associated Press reports. The document has also been changed to reflect that the circumstances of how Wood ended up in the water on Nov. 29, 1981 are "not clearly established." Detectives working on the reopened case have been instructed not to speak about it at the time, but Chief of Detectives William McSweeney did say, "I would just say 'undetermined' is descriptive." The case was originally reopened when the boat's captain Dennis Davern said (on 48 Hours Mystery and Today) that Wood had a fight with her husband, Robert Wagner, who was also on the boat, during the night of her disappearance. Davern said that he believed Wagner was to blame. But in a memoir, Wagner wrote that he had actually been fighting with friend Christopher Walken, who had been on the boat as well. And at this time, Wagner is not a suspect in the investigation "We don't close these cases," Detective McSweeney said. "These cases have active periods and more passive periods. We're moving toward the end of an active period." Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Amanda Bynes' Two Latest Car Accidents Broken Down by the LAPD
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 21, 2012
Fasten your seat belts, friends of Amanda Bynes: The former teen star has had yet another wreck on the road. The 26-year-old actress has been involved in two more car accidents, the Los Angeles Police Department tells The most recent incident occurred this past Sunday. "What happened on Sunday, she was rear-ended," Officer Rosario Herrera, spokesperson for the LAPD, tells us. "There were no injuries reported. So, there was exchange of information only." Herrera adds that the incident occurred in the "Valley area." And just last week, Bynes found herself in another minor traffic collision "where she left the scene" before cops arrived, according to authorities. To date, Bynes has been arrested for a DUI and was allegedly involved in three other hit-and-run incidents. Should Bynes look to the Fast & Furious franchise for a career revival? We doubt Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Connor (sexy Paul Walker) would give Bynes a set of keys to one of their supped up cars. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. • Hilary Swank and John Campisi Go Their Separate Ways
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 21, 2012
It doesn't look like wedding bells will be ringing anytime soon for Hilary Swank. A rep for the two-time Academy Award-winning actress confirms that Swank and her boyfriend of five years, John Campisi, have broken up and gone their separate ways, reports. According to the report, the couple actually called things off back in May — but it sounds like Swank has had a pretty easy time keeping it under wraps. She has been off the radar ever since, while she has been busy filming her upcoming movie Mary & Martha down in South Africa and Wilmington, N.C. Swank and Campisi began dating in December 2006, but this isn't the first public breakup she's had to face. Earlier that year, Swank announced that she was divorcing her husband of 14 years, Chad Lowe, after a five-month trial separation. After her divorce, Swank told InStyle magazine, via People: "Friends of mine and I talk about this. Does someone come into your life for a certain time, and then you are supposed to go your separate ways? There's a part of me that thinks that's true." Hopefully Swank and Campisi will find new someones that make their hearts spin. Follow Lindsey on Twitter @LDiMat. "I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him," she told the Belfast Telegraph at the time. "I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy." • 'Married to Jonas': Kevin and Danielle Have Bananas in Bed?
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 20, 2012
Married to Jonas. You think it would mean endless shopping trips to the most expensive designers on New York City's 5th Avenue and non-stop spa visits in preparation for tons of glamorous parties. But like any other marriage, Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa face their ups and downs too, and on Sunday night, we got a taste of what being Married to Jonas is all about. A Banana in Bed Good Christian boy Kevin Jonas. Well, so much for that one, as Jonas' purity ring-wearing days are a thing of the past. His marriage to Deleasa (they tied the knot on Dec. 19, 2009) seems to have changed him. During the opening scene, the wildest dreams of teenage girls circa 2009 finally came true when we got a glimpse at Jonas' intimate bedroom. There was one problem, though... Deleasa was laying in Jonas' king-sized bed, and he couldn't help but make a joke about Deleasa wanting to be a wife that can impress in the bedroom. Gross! But that wasn't the only sexually awkward moment of the premiere. During another scene, Deleasa was in the kitchen cooking up a storm with her mother and two sisters when Jonas came back from a grocery run. In the middle of some back-and-forth joking, Jonas took it a step too far when he talked about Danielle liking having "bananas" in bed. Bananas in bed? Was he talking about a sex toy? Of course Deleasa got pissed about this. What girl wants her mom to know that she plays with "bananas" (if that really is what Jonas was talking about)? Thank goodness the joke went right over her mother and sisters' heads, and probably most of the audiences' as well. Meet Big Ang's Replacement During Season 2 of Mob Wives, we were introduced to the wonder that is Big Ang (Angela Raiola), the mafiosa queen who rules all of Staten Island with her gorgeous lips and big smile. But she's not the only one who knows how to cook up a storm. During the premiere of Married to Jonas, we met the new breakout star of reality TV: Deleasa's father, Bucky Deleasa. Not only does he show up at his daughter's house whenever he wants with no warning at all, but he is a self-proclaimed expert on all things culinary, and he lets you know it, too. Click here to watch a clip to understand why this guy is just awesome! A Jonas Meeting or Dinner? It's quite intimidating to prepare a dinner for your husband's whole family, especially when they are the famous Jonases. Deleasa did her best to to whip up a tasty meal, even enlisting her sisters and mother to help with the preparations (they didn't even score an invite after all this). But when the Jonas family finally sat down for dinner, forget them talking about Deleasa's wonderfully home-cooked Italian meal. It was straight to business, and how the upcoming Jonas tour would effect Deleasa and Kevin's plan for having a baby. Pass the ravioli please, and when are you going to pop one out? What a perfect dinner-table conversation: the sauce on the pasta. Yikes. Talk about being uncomfortable. Not something I will ever discuss with my in-laws over supper (if I ever get married). • Rihanna on 'Oprah's Next Chapter': 'I Still Love' Chris Brown
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 20, 2012
Three and a half years after Rihanna was hospitalized due to ex-boyfriend Chris Brown physically assaulting her, the 24-year-old-singer decided to discuss the status of her relationship with Brown. During a special interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday's episode of Oprah's Next Chapter, Rihanna broke down in tears as she tried to explain that she has moved on to forgive Brown, and that she still loves him. "We've been working on our friendship again," Rihanna told Oprah. "Now, we're very, very close friends. We built a trust again. We love each other and we probably always will, and that's not anything that we're going to try to change." Despite rumors circulating that the couple had reunited, Rihanna clarified that they are not seeing each other again. "He's in a relationship of his own," she said. "I'm single, but we have maintained a very close friendship ever since the restraining order's been dropped. Just worked on it little by little, and it has not been easy." Still, her heart still pounds whenever she sees Brown. "It's awkward because I still love him," she admitted. "My stomach drops, and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me. I have to maintain that and suppress it. interpret it and understand it, and understand that that's not going to go away. When you don't understand those feelings, you can make a lot of mistakes." "I think he was the love of my life," Rihanna said. "He was my first love and I see that he loved me the same way. I truly love him The main thing for me is he's at peace. I'm not at peace if he's not happy or he's still lonely. I care. It actually matters that he finds that peace." She added: "I have to forgive him, because I cared about him still... The minute I let go of that, I started living again." Watch Rihanna's interview with Oprah below. Follow Lindsey on Twitter. • Should Robert Pattinson Open Up About the Kristen Cheating Scandal?
By: Lindsey DiMattina Aug 17, 2012
Ever since Twilight hit theaters on Nov. 21, 2008, the world has become obsessed with its two main stars — Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson — and the fact that the two carried on a romance both on-screen and in real life only fueled the fire of interest. So when a bomb dropped on July 25 that Stewart had been carrying on an affair with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, fans couldn't help but let their jaws drop in astonishment. In a second, our ideas of the "fairy tale romance" came crashing down around us. But as Stewart, who is only 22 years old, quickly offered a very public apology to her boyfriend, the question remained: how would Pattinson react to the devastating news? On Monday, Pattinson, 26, gave his first interview since the scandal broke. But even over a bowl of cereal, Pattinson wouldn't give up any personal feelings to Jon Stewart (on The Daily Show) except that he felt he needed to hire a publicist. Pattinson continued the mum approach on Wednesday when he appeared on Good Morning America, saying that he has no "interest in trying to sell [his] personal life." And then during Wednesday night's TimesTalk interview, when Pattinson was again probed with questions, he was pushed to compare the interest in his relationship to that of the royal family. "I think it's because America really wants to have a royal family," he said. But he quickly stopped himself from going further — and fans booed the next personal question that was asked. While fans seemed unhappy to see their beloved Pattinson badgered, it brings up the question of whether Pattinson is handling himself properly in the eye of the storm. And, has his stay-quiet approach been working out well for him? It seems it has. Not only did the TimesTalk booing prove that fans respect Pattinson's choice for privacy, but public relations experts think that he's approaching the situation quite well. "He has been handling himself perfectly," Eileen Koch, Chief Executive Officer of Koch & Company INC., tells "He doesn’t want to say anything negative. He has a broken heart and bruised ego. He also is a gentleman and a class act." Celebrity publicist Jack Ketsoyan, who has worked with clients like Kristin Cavallari and Ali Landry, agrees: "He is doing the right thing — he's not talking about it." Pattison agreed to these interviews to promote his new movie Cosmopolis, and that's the only thing he should be talking about (and that's what he's doing). "He's not going to talk about it at the moment just because he has a movie coming, and the last thing you want to do is [talk about] a controversy that’s going to take away from the movie," explains Ketsoyan. "It takes away from what you’re trying to promote. It takes away from the product itself." So should Pattinson ever discuss the Stewart situation? "A good rule of communicating well is [to] first figure out what you want to say," says Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who has represented 58 Academy Award winners. "And he doesn’t seem to have figured out what he wants to say." Pattinson should also wait until he figures out the status of his relationship before he speaks about it. "If after the holidays they are really going to be broken up, then he can say he made a decision," says Koch, "when he realizes what he really wants to do." For now, fans will continue to empathize with Pattinson's situation. "Everyone has been so sorry for Rob," says Ketsoyan. "Breakups are hard to begin with, and then when you have to go through what he has gone through publicly... everyone is going to have a soft spot for him for the rest of his life because he is going to be viewed as that one guy who got completely screwed over."
