  • Booker T. Bassist Donald 'Duck' Dunn Dies at 70
By: Lindsey DiMattina May 13, 2012
Booker T. & the M.G.'s bassist and songwriter Donald "Duck" Dunn passed away on Sunday at the age of 70 in Tokyo. Dunn's friend and fellow band member Steve Cropper posted the sad news on his Facebook account. "Today I lost my best friend, the World has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live," Cropper wrote. "Duck Dunn died in his sleep Sunday morning May 13 in Tokyo Japan after finishing 2 shows at the Blue Note Night Club." Miho Harasawa, a rep for the Blue Note, confirmed the sad news, but couldn't offer any other details besides that Dunn had been alone at the time of his death. Throughout his career, Dunn worked with the likes of Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart. He was also the featured bass player for Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty's song, "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" on Nick's debut solo album, Bella Donna, in 1981. Dunn's time with Booker T resulted in songs like Otis Redding's "Respect" and Albert King's "Born Under a Bad Sign." [Facebook,BBC, Photo Credit:]

  • 'The Bachelor' Franchise: 9 Missing Roses
By: Lindsey DiMattina May 12, 2012
Fans loved watching Ashley Hebert and Ben Flajnik hand out roses on The Bachelorette and The Bachelor. But, sometimes the stars and the contestants aren't that lucky — and the roses are simply lost in time. With the 24th season of The Bachelorette — starring Emily Maynard — airing on Monday, we here at thought it would be the perfect time to take a look back at nine moments when roses went missing throughout the 10 years of Bachelor history. Some lost roses caused tears, while others left smiles. Here are nine roses that have gone missing from The Bachelor franchise: 1. Brad Womack didn't hand out a rose to either of the final women during his first season. Both DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft walked away from the show heartbroken.  2. Ashley Hebert sent both Ben Castoriano and William Holman packing during her two-on-one date in Thailand.  3. Ali Fedotowsky left Jake Pavelka's season early to return to her job at Facebook. She was a frontrunner, so Pavelka had to give a rose to someone else. But, she got her own season — so in the end, her decision afforded the franchise more roses.  4. Ben Flajnik didn't hand out the final rose during the episode when Shawntel Newton showed up to try her luck at winning him over. This was such a stressful rose ceremony that one contestant, Erika Uhlig, fainted because she couldn't handle it.  5. Flajnik wasn't the first Bachelor to refuse to hand out a rose. Jason Mesnick broke the rules. In January 2009, Mesnick also declined to hand out a rose at the end of a ceremony.  6. Ben Flajnik sent Casey Shteamer home early because he found out that she still had feelings for her ex-boyfriend. No rose for her.  7. Ali Fedotowsky found out that Justin Rego had two girlfriends back at home while he was competing for her love. So, she sent him home. But the best part about this was watching Rego run away from Fedotowsky.  8. Brittney Schreiner voluntarily left Ben Flajnik's season early on in the game. She didn't even give their relationship a chance. 9. Ed Swiderski left Jillian Harris' season early, meaning he didn't get a rose during that sad moment. But, he returned to the show and won her heart back — so the rose wasn't truly lost. • Emily Maynard: 9 Reasons Why She Will Be the Best 'Bachelorette' Yet
By: Lindsey DiMattina May 11, 2012
It may have been entertaining to watch Bentley Williams play games with Ashley Hebert's heart or Ali Fedotowsky dump Chris Lambton before the final rose ceremony (what? You wouldn't be watching The Bachelorette if you didn't enjoy schadenfreude too!)  — but nothing will compare to Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette. How do we know this? We're psychic. Or we just simply like Emily just as much as Bentley did.  So, we might be biased. But here are the 10 reasons why we don't want to miss Maynard's Bachelorette season, premiering Monday: 1. Maynard has a reality-ready heart-wrenching storyline. At the age of 19, Maynard got engaged to a race car driver, Ricky Hendrick. Tragically, Hendrick died in a tragic plane crash, leaving Maynard all on her own. But that's not the most shocking part. A week after Hendrick's death, Maynard found out she was pregnant with their daughter. Only a cruel TV watcher wouldn't want to wish Emily a happy ending.  2. Maynard has produced plenty of relationship drama before. After the single mother decided to take her chances at finding love via The Bachelor, the reality star met and fell in love with Brad Womack... only to break their engagement after the season's end. Will we accept some more drama? YES! 3. Each and every one of us Bachelor devotees love a star who is also a parent. Just look at Jason Mesnick, who watched fans obsess over finding his son a new mother. Bachelorette baby on board? We're in! 4. Maynard was considered enough of a draw for the franchise to convince ABC to shake up production. Typically, the season kicks off in Los Angeles, but — since Maynard refused to uproot her daughter — production moved to Charlotte, N.C. to start filming. If ABC thinks Maynard is worth the relocation trouble, she's worth the trouble of you picking up the remote.  5. It's likely we won't have to roll our eyes as we endure a Bentley — Maynard already knows the tricks of the Bachelor game, and is sharper than some of predecessors. (Ahem, Ashley Hebert.) Now, if ABC wants to deliver an actual lovelorn Bentley... 6. ...then we'd love to watch as Maynard talk that one through with Bachelorette bud Hebert. 7. Chris Harrison has a good repertoire with Maynard. Will he tell her to send the jerks home, or convince her that they are necessary for the reality TV-friendly intrigue? For our TV-watching sakes, let's hope for the latter. 8. Didn't we already mention Bentley? The Bachelor and Bachelorette are known to boast surprise guest appearances to boost ratings — how could ABC resist a surprise stop-by from Williams, who first applied to the show to meet Maynard instead of eventual Bachelorette Hebert, or even Womack?  9. Let's face it: She is America's New Sweetheart. Or, at least, A Future Suitor's New Sweetheart, Until They Break Up and Air Their Dirty Laundry on Several Tabloid Covers. But it's just easier to say America's Sweetheart. Are you just as excited for Maynard to start her journey as The Bachelorette? • ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Sean Bean Arrested for Allegedly Harassing His Ex-Wife
By: Lindsey DiMattina May 10, 2012
Sean Bean may not be as gallant in real life as his Game of Thrones character, Eddard Stark, is on TV. On Wednesday, the 53-year-old actor was reportedly arrested and then questioned for allegedly harassing his ex-wife, Georgina Sutcliffe, with phone calls and abusive text messages. "A 53-year-old man attended a central London police station by appointment yesterday, where he was arrested on suspicion of harassment and bailed until a later date," a Scotland Yard spokesperson told People. The UK's Mirror identified Bean as the man by posting a picture of him arriving at the station. Police say that the man was not charged. Bean and Sutcliffe began dating in 2006 and tied the knot in February 2008. She was his fourth wife — but, it wasn't a fairy tale ending. • Russell Brand to Host MTV Movie Awards
By: Lindsey DiMattina May 10, 2012
Russell Brand is kicking off the summer with a familiar gig. Three years after emceeing the MTV Video Music Awards, the 36-year-old comedian/actor will be hosting the 2012 MTV Movie Awards when they air live on June 3 from Universal City, Calif. "This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” Brand said. “With his amazing ability to span the full spectrum of comedy from the most high to lowbrow, Russell’s smart, unpredictable wit uniquely connects him to our audience,” Stephen Friedman, President of MTV, shared. “His rock-n-roll sensibility and fearlessness give us the perfect partner with whom to take a leap of faith with as we meld the worlds of movies and music together on one very special night.” But, there's a bigger question that remains concerning this announcement: Will Brand's ex-wife Katy Perry (who is usually a big MTV supporter) attend this year now that Brand is hosting? Perry and Brand have a personal history with Awards Shows and MTV — the duo began dating after meeting at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. (You might remember this barb from his hosting duties: "Katy Perry didn't win an award and she's staying at the same hotel as me, so she's gonna need a shoulder to cry on. So in a way, I'm the real winner tonight.")  Now, only time will tell if these ex-lovers will come face-to-face again at the MTV Movie Awards. A reunion like this is guaranteed to set off fireworks, but not the kind that Perry will be singing about afterwards. [MTV] More: Tom Cruise Steals Kanye West's Style in 'Rock of Ages' Poster

  • John Travolta May Face More Accusers in Sexual Battery Lawsuit — Report
By: Lindsey DiMattina May 09, 2012
Two male masseurs have already come forward and filed a lawsuit against John Travolta, accusing him of sexual harassment and battery. But now, the attorney who is repping the two men (both listed as John Doe) says even more men have reached out to him with similar stories. "There's a bunch of accusers against Travolta who have similar accusations," the plaintiff attorney Okorie Okorocha tells People. "Many have contacted me, and I'm still vetting their stories. More defendants might come forward soon." This lawsuit has been spreading over the Internet like wild fire — but Okorocha says that his clients "never wanted this attention." They actually "wanted to keep this discreet." But supposedly, after a month of negotiating with Travolta's lawyers, "they left us with no other option but to file the lawsuit," explains Okorocha. Travolta's attorney Marty Singer calls the lawsuit "absurd and ridiculous." [People] More: Second Masseur Sues John Travolta for Sexual Battery Masseur Sues John Travolta for Sexual Battery
