  • What Amy Adams Did For This Soldier Is So Perfect
By: Shannon Houston Jun 27, 2014
Getty Images/George Pimentel If you've ever seen the movie American Hustle, you should already know that Amy Adams is pretty much the best. We now have more proof of this fact. The actress was preparing to board a flight back to Los Angeles from Detroit when she did something few celebrities are willing to do. She reportedly gave up her first class seat on the plane to a soldier who she noticed sitting at her gate. Adams swapped with him, and sat in coach for the duration of the flight. Although she didn't do it for the attention, we can't help but applaud this random act of kindness. Follow @Hollywood_com Follow @shannonmhouston //
  • Should 'Do The Right Thing' Become A Broadway Musical?
By: Shannon Houston Jun 27, 2014
Universal Pictures via Everett Collection Spike Lee's critically-acclaimed 1989 film Do The Right Thing may be headed to Broadway. The drama—which centered on race relations and the cultural experiences of individuals and families living in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York—could be adapted as a play, not a musical. But in case you were curious as to what the musical version might sound like, check out Spike Lee's hilarious response below: Actually, that sounds kind of amazing. But we'll trust Spike Lee to take the more practical route and stick to a stage play. Follow @Hollywood_com Follow @shannonmhouston //
  • 'Girls' Meets 'Orange Is The New Black'!
By: Shannon Houston Jun 27, 2014
Netflix Orange Is The New Black fans, rejoice! You may have to wait until forever before Season Three premieres, but you can at least get yourself a little Nicky Nichols in the meantime. Natasha Lyonne, who recently spoke out against homophobia and opposition to gay marriage, will appear on the fourth season of HBO’s Girls. There are no details about her character, although we do know that OITNB's Nicky will now be going by "Ricky." We can't wait to hear that signature raspy voice saying all the sarcastic and genius and wonderful things we love to hear, alongside Lena Dunham and the rest of the Girls crew. Oh, yes. We are eternally Team Nicky. Follow @Hollywood_com Follow @shannonmhouston //
  • Olivia Wilde Twitter-Shames 'GQ' Magazine For Sexist Remarks
By: Shannon Houston Jun 27, 2014
Getty Images/Astrid Stawiarz Well, this is awkward... for GQ anyway. One of their journalists made the mistake of implying that, in her new movie Third Person, Olivia Wilde is way too sexy to also play an intelligent writer. Or, to quote Tom Carson exactly:  She's supposed to be a writer too, but your belief in that won't outlast Wilde scampering naked through hotel corridors once Neeson playfully locks her out of his room. With that tush, who'd need to be literate? Who'd want to? Yikes. Wilde wasn't feelin' it, and replied to a tweet sent out by feminist blog and news source Jezebel:  HA. Kiss my smart ass, GQ. GQ has since apologized, tweeting the following message: We regret that boneheaded joke in Tom Carson's "Third Person" review. So does he." Apologies sure are nice, but it'd be even nicer to live in a world where women were treated like, you know, actual people. Follow @Hollywood_com Follow @shannonmhouston //
  • 'Parks And Rec' Fans, Nick Offerman Is Getting 'Metaphysical'!
By: Shannon Houston Jun 27, 2014
NBC/Getty Images Parks and Rec fans (and fanatics), stop everything. Ron Swanson... er... Nick Offerman is headed our way via this new "metaphysical drama" (because, yes, that is a thing) called Welcome to Happiness.  He (and his moustache) will star alongside Olivia Thirlby and Kyle Gallner in the film, which is set for a 2015 release. Not much is known about the project, but according to IMDB here's some of what you can expect: A children's book author is the gatekeeper to a mysterious door in his closet that only allows certain people to enter. When he learns where the door leads, his life is forever changed. Sounds like there will be plenty of opportunities for Offerman to get weird. This is a good thing. • We Seriously Wish Khloé Kardashian Had Celebrated Her Birthday With Someone Else
By: Shannon Houston Jun 27, 2014
Instagram/khloekardashian Happy Birthday, Khloé Kardashian! Another year means another chance to get a sweet, new boo who is not French Montana. The youngest Kardashian sister celebrated her special day at TAO nightclub in Las Vegas. And while we do seriously wish she'd celebrated the big 3-0 with someone else, we're glad she looks like she had fun. And it needs to be said that that cake is on some next level stuff. By: Shannon Houston Jun 24, 2014
Instagram/iiswhoiis Pop star Kesha attended the premiere of ABC's new interactive talent search show Rising Star, and she was absolutely stunning.  If this will be her new look forever, we are in complete support of that. And we are in complete support of her makeup artist and hair stylist Vittorio Masecchia. Would also like him to come and do our hair and makeup as well. • Transgender Star Laverne Cox Says She Is Reclaiming Her Womanhood
By: Shannon Houston Jun 24, 2014
Instagram/lavernecox In a new interview transgender actress and activist Laverne Cox discusses the significance of her Netflix series Orange Is The New Black. Now in its second season, the show has given great visibility to the LGBTQ community. Cox (who plays Sofia Burset) spoke with Paste Magazine and waxed poetic on patriarchy and redefning womanhood: “What’s so deep about patriarchy and how it works is that it says, ‘This person is really a woman and this person isn’t,’” she says. “It denies certain people their womanhood, and I understand that womanhood is as much a social construct as race is.” She goes on to say that she appropriated Sojourner Truth’s speech title, “Ain’t I A Woman” for her speech in an attempt to claim her own womanhood “in a context which would often deny it.” You can read her interview with the rest of the OITNB cast here. Natasha Lyonne (who plays Nicky Nichols on the show), Yael Stone (Lorna Morello), and Laura Prepon (Alex Vause) also open up about the importance of the series in terms of sparking a dialogue about women and sexuality. Cox became the first transgender individual to cover TIME Magazine earlier this year, and we can expect more big moves from her as she continues to fight for equality. • We Finally Have Details On That New Wachowskis Netflix Series
By: Shannon Houston Jun 24, 2014
Getty Images Netflix has finally revealed some details about the highly-anticipated new series coming from the Wachowskis. Sens8 will be a 10-episode sci-fi drama starring Naveen Andrews, Daryl Hannah and Stargate Universe‘s Brian J. Smith. Other actors from Gemany, London, and South Korea are also on board. J. Michael Straczynski is co-showrunner of the series with the famed cinema siblings and he revealed this plot synopsis to Deadline: “The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally... They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organization out to capture, kill or vivisect them.” Sounds pretty, amazingly Wachowskian. And considering the success of pretty much every Netflix series in existence so far, we can expect good things. Follow @Hollywood_com Follow @shannonmhouston //
