UPDATE: Lil Wayne has tweeted that he "good" despite reports that he was on his last rites after suffering from seizures.  I'm good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love. — Lil Wayne WEEZY F (@LilTunechi) March 16, 2013 Earlier tonight, TMZ reported that rapper Lil Wayne was in critical condition in the ICU after suffering from seizures. He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. Tuesday night after suffering multiple seizures.  He was released Wednesday but just hours later one of his bodyguards found him in his room, on the floor and unconscious and he was rushed back to the hospital. It was reported that he was "unstable" and placed in a medically-induced coma. The 30-year-old (real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) had his stomach pumped three times after "doctors found high amounts of codeine in his system." However, Mack Maine, president of Young Money, tweeted that Lil Wayne is "alive and well" despite the reports that he is on his last rites: Wayne is alive and well! • 'Divergent' Finds Its Love Interest: Why He's More Than Fodder For Sci-Fi Romance
By: Sydney Bucksbaum Mar 15, 2013
Divergent has finally found its love interest. Golden Boy's Theo James has just been cast to star opposite Shailene Woodley as "Four" in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth's young adult fiction bestseller. The movie is set in a dystopian future where society divides people into five factions based on personality. Woodley plays the young protagonist Beatrice "Tris" Prior, who is classified a "divergent," a rare, dangerous classification, and is told she will never fit into any specific group. She leaves her family back in the Abnegation (selfless) faction to join the Dauntless (bravery) faction, and uncovers a conspiracy to destroy all "divergents" and start a war between factions. She must find out why she and others like her are considered so dangerous, before it's too late. A man with a mysterious past, Tobias "Four" Eaton (James) is Tris’s intense yet charismatic instructor of the new Dauntless initiates (those who chose Dauntless and were not born into it) and one of the leaders of the faction. In lazier storytelling, Four's character could have wound up just as romantic fodder for the protaganist, but in Roth's brilliantly-written novel, he has a compelling history with his own shocking secrets that come to light, and he shares the spotlight with Tris. He is more her ally than her love interest as they try to stop a war.  Other YA love interests, perhaps the best-known are Twilight's Edward Cullen and The Hunger Games' Peeta Mellark, spend their entire journey in the books/movies constantly trying to save their love's life. Sure, they may have interesting back stories but their main goal is always saving or protecting their girlfriend. Four has so much more to him than just being Tris's hero and savior. In fact, most of the time he stands back and lets Tris save and defend herself, instilling the brave and fearless values that the Dauntless faction teaches. Tris and Four don't let their relationship take priority over what needs to be done.  RELATED: Jai Courtney Joins 'Divergent': Who Will He Play? In a joint statement, Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, Co-Chairmen of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said, "Theo is not only an incredibly talented actor, he is also who we envisioned as Four when reading Veronica’s novel which has taken the world by storm.  As we continue to develop the film, the studio remains committed to providing fans with a movie adaptation that stays as true to the book as possible and we are confident that we have done so with our selection of Shailene and Theo in the leading roles." "We took our time to find the right actor to fill the role of Four, and Theo is definitely the perfect fit," said Erik Feig, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s President of Production.  "Veronica has crafted a truly iconic character in Four and we cannot wait to begin production and bring him and this story to life for millions of fans around the world." James joins the film – directed by Neil Burger – along with previously cast Woodley, Jai Courtney, Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz, and Ansel Elgort. Kate Winslet, Aaron Eckhart, Ray Stevenson and Miles Teller are also closing deals to join the cast, Deadline reports.  Divergent hits theaters March 21, 2014.  Follow Sydney on Twitter: @Sydney Bucksbaum [Photo Credit: Scott Gries/Invision/AP Images] You Might Also Like:Topanga's Revealing Lingerie Shoot: Hello '90s! • 'Scary Movie 5': The Only Thing Worse Than Charlie Sheen In Bed With Lindsay Lohan Is This Movie - TRAILER
By: Sydney Bucksbaum Mar 14, 2013
If the thought of Charlie Sheen in bed with Lindsay Lohan doesn’t make you gag – or worse, laugh – then congratulations, you are the only one! That also means you’re the only person excited for Scary Movie 5, which finds Sheen and Lohan in the aforementioned bed together before a ghost/demon wreaks more havoc than Sheen on a Tiger Blood-fueled bender. The newest trailer for the fifth installment of the Scary Movie spoofing franchise just hit the web, and along with some Sheen/Lohan loving, we also get a glimpse of a contortionist Honey Boo Boo, a Snoop Dogg (sorry, Snoop Lion) crotch kick, and a con man posing as a demon psychic. Spoofing Paranormal Activity  and Mama, a happily-married couple begins to experience some unusual activity after bringing their newborn son home from the hospital. With the help of home-surveillance cameras and a team of experts, they learn they're being stalked by a nefarious demon and must learn how to get rid of it before it’s too late. Watch the new trailer below:  Ashley Tisdale, Terry Crews, Kate Walsh, Jerry O’Connell, Heather Locklear, Molly Shannon, Chris Elliot, Ben Cornish, Mike Tyson, Simon Rex, Jasmine Guy, Kendra Wilkinson, and Audrina Patridge round out the cast. It’s interesting to note that Scary Movie 5 is the only film in the entire franchise that does not feature any main characters from the previous films (maybe because they knew it was time to bail…). Scary Movie 5 hits theaters April 12.  Follow Sydney on Twitter: @SydneyBucksbaum [Photo Credit: The Weinstein Company] You Might Also Like:Topanga's Revealing Lingerie Shoot: Hello '90s! • Sendhil Ramamurthy's 'Beauty and the Beast' Debut 'Ruffles a Lot of Feathers'
By: Sydney Bucksbaum Mar 14, 2013
Sendhil Ramamurthy makes his debut as a series regular in tonight's all-new Beauty and the Beast, "Any Means Possible," but before you fret that Ramamurthy's Assistant District Attorney Gabe Lowen will get in the way of the Catherine (Kristin Kreuk)-Vincent pairing of our dreams, Ramamurthy assures us that their connection will be of the non-romantic – and actually kind of negative – variety. "Gabe flirts with Catherine, but he flirts with everyone. It’s one of the things he uses to get information out of people," Ramamurthy tells ahead of his first episode. "Gabe isn’t going to be a romantic interest right now. It’s very much an adversarial relationship." The reason there's such negative tension between Cat and Gabe is because Gabe is spearheading the task force to hunt down the vigilante – aka, Vincent (Jay Ryan). "He wants to put the guy behind bars," Ramamurthy reveals. "But there is so much more to Gabe and what’s driving him than just ambition. Ambition is 2 percent of it. The other 98 percent that’s revealed throughout this is really the driving force. It changes the dynamic of the show. There is reason why he goes about doing what he’s doing and ultimately it’s a really satisfying reveal. It’s going to come out of left field." RELATED: 'Beauty and the Beast' Executive Producer Talks Cat/Vincent Romance When we pressured Ramamurthy to tell us more about Gabe’s true reasons for wanting to hunt down Vincent, he relented and let us know that we’ll get part of the story by the end of tonight’s episode. "Gabe reveals why he’s doing what he’s doing by the end of the episode to the other characters," Ramamurthy says. "The information that he wants the characters to have he reveals by the end of the episode, but his real motivations you find out very quickly over the subsequent episodes."  And as for his relationship with the other characters we’ve come to know and love over the freshman season of the CW drama, don’t expect Gabe to be making many friends. "He basically says, 'I think you guys are doing a bad job,'" Ramamurthy says. "He’s very in your face about it, and obviously, when somebody comes in and tells a bunch of people that he thinks they’re doing a crappy job, that’s not going to make them like him very much." It’s probably a good thing Gabe doesn’t care about making friends, then. "Being liked by the other people in the police department is not at the top of his list," Ramamurthy says. "He goes after this with tremendous passion and certainly for Cat and Tess and Joe, it rubs them the wrong way. He ruffles a lot of feathers when he gets there." RELATED: 'Beauty and the Beast': Jay Ryan Talks the Manhunt for Vincent But his tense relationship with Catherine has another reason behind it, and it has a little something to do with the… ahem, revealing way that they meet. "What can I say? I went to the gym a lot for that scene," Ramamurthy teases. "The introduction to the character for the audience and Gabe’s introduction with Catherine is fairly unorthodox. I’m in a towel. I think that’s all I’m allowed to say. It’s definitely the most interesting way that I’ve ever been introduced into a show, that’s for sure!" But as we find out later down the line, that unique meeting may not actually be the first time Catherine and Gabe encounter each other. "As information comes out, you will actually find out that Gabe has a connection to Catherine's past," Ramamurthy reveals. "The reveal of that is huge." Could that connection have anything to do with Catherine’s mother? "You start to think, does Gabe have a connection to Muirfield?" Ramamurthy teases. "As the episodes go on, the audience finds out what motivates Gabe and what his background is. You will find out why he is how he is today." Ramamurthy makes his debut as a series regular March 14 at 9 PM ET/PT on The CW.  Follow Sydney on Twitter: @SydneyBucksbaum [Photo Credit: The CW] You Might Also Like:14 Movies That Are, Surprisingly, Not PornStars Who Have Lost Roles For Being Too Hot (Celebuzz)
  • Hollywood's Next Big Action Star Joins 'Divergent': Who Will He Play?
By: Sydney Bucksbaum Mar 14, 2013
Jai Courtney, the action star who played John McClane’s son in A Good Day To Die Hard, has just joined Divergent, the movie adaptation of the YA Veronica Roth bestseller, has confirmed. Courtney joins the film – directed by Neil Burger – along with previously cast Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz, and Ansel Elgort. RELATED: Shailene Woodley in Talks to Star in 'Divergent' The movie is set in a dystopian future where society divides people into five factions based on personality. Woodley plays the young protagonist Beatrice “Tris” Prior, who is classified a “divergent,” a rare, dangerous classification, and is told she will never fit into any specific group. She leaves her family back in the Abnegation (selfless) faction to join the Dauntless (bravery) faction, and uncovers a conspiracy to destroy all “divergents” and start a war. She must find out why she and others like her are considered so dangerous. Courtney will play Eric, one of the Dauntless leaders. He is described as having many piercings and long, dark, greasy hair, with cold eyes that made him all the more menacing, scabbed-over knuckles, and a wicked smile. He is excessively cruel and makes life for Tris as hard as he possibly can. He also is enemies with the as-yet-uncast love interest for Tris, Four.  RELATED: Young Adult Book Primer: What to Read Before Seeing the Movie Q will play Tori, the owner of a tattoo parlor in Tris’s chosen faction, Dauntless, and is part of the choosing ceremony that divides people into factions. She ends up as Tris’s ally. Kravitz will play Christina, a member of the Dauntless faction, and who becomes friends with Tris. Elgort will play Caleb, Tris’s brother who turns his back on his family in the Abnegation faction like Tris does to be part of the Erudite (knowledge) faction. Winslet's character has yet to be revealed, but the biggest role yet to be filled is the cold, calculating leader of the Erudite faction, Jeanine Matthews, which Winslet would portray perfectly.  Divergent hits theaters March 21, 2014. • Valerie Harper Discusses Her Incurable Cancer Diagnosis on 'GMA'
By: Sydney Bucksbaum Mar 12, 2013
Despite her recent heartbreaking news that she has terminal brain cancer, Valerie Harper remains positive and upbeat – a truly inspirational way to handle her tough situation. The Mary Tyler Moore Show star appeared on Good Morning America on Tuesday morning to discuss her incurable diagnosis, as well as her motivating positive outlook. Despite her doctors' estimates that she has three to six months left to live, the 73-year-old TV star is planning on living her life as normally as possible for as long as she can. "Everybody, don't go to the funeral until the day of the funeral,” Harper told co-anchor Robin Roberts. “Live this day. We're all terminal — and we have a lot of fear around death. I thought that maybe we can help somebody."  Harper has decided to use the time she has left to spread a positive message: carpe diem — seize the day no matter what. “Tony [Cacciotti, her husband] and I decided we would do this, because I want people to be less scared," Harper said. "I want them to know the new realm of cancer — that you can die with cancer but not of it." RELATED: Sending Good Thoughts to Valerie Harper, Revolutionary, Inspirational 'Actor' The TV veteran was recently diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare and incurable form of cancer that occurs when cancer cells metastasize into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain. Since her diagnosis, the actress has gone on TV shows like The Doctors, The Today Show and now GMA to spread her unique view on not letting her diagnosis control the rest of her life. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy, and won’t let that get in the way of any potential job opportunities. "I'm living very normally thanks to some stabilizing [medication]," Harper said. "Two pills only, morning and night. People have been offering me jobs — I think I can do them. Right now [I could work] if they were willing to take the chance." Harper also made sure to thank her fans and former costars for all of their support during her diagnosis. "I want to tell them how supportive and loving and exciting it is to feel this in the here and now, and that's it," Harper said. "This is the joy of this. If I was gone you'd be having memorials. This way we can share back and forth." We are truly inspired by Harper’s positive attitude in the face of a terrible diagnosis, and we send her all of our best wishes. • 'Dallas' Cast Previews Tonight's Emotional Funeral for J.R.... And a Thirst for Revenge
By: Sydney Bucksbaum Mar 11, 2013
It will be the end of an era when Dallas pays tribute to late actor Larry Hagman — and with him his iconic role, J.R. Ewing —  in tonight’s funeral episode, "J.R.’s Masterpiece." According to the cast, Hagman's passing has led to some serious emotional ramifications both onscreen and off — and these ramifications may lead to some very poor decision-making. "Honoring Larry, honoring J.R. — we have to do that," Patrick Duffy tells at the show's PaleyFest panel in Los Angeles the day before the episode's premiere. "The audience wants that. We can’t just ignore it. You have to take a moment and let everything just stop, and do this moment where we do the right thing." Though the funeral was for a fictional character, there were times when it felt all too real. Which makes sense, considering it kind of was. Brenda Strong, who plays Anne Ewing, is proud to have been a part of it. "It is one of the most exquisite pieces of television I have ever had the honor of being a part of," Strong says. "It absolutely is a tribute to the icon of Larry Hagman, and the icon of J.R. We all had an opportunity through the catharsis of art to grieve and to celebrate the life of Larry Hagman." Obviously the cast feels Hagman's loss very deeply, and his character's death will have major emotional ramifications for the show, too. Duffy says the loss of his brother has a major effect on Bobby in more ways than one. "Bobby has totally lost his raison d'etre, his purpose as a character," Duffy says. "He was always there to counteract the machinations of J.R., to maintain the integrity of the Ewing name, to honor what his momma and daddy stood for. He always felt that J.R. was endangering that, and his job was to protect it. Now that there’s no J.R., the writers have to find a reason for Bobby to be Bobby." RELATED: 'Dallas' Star Larry Hagman Dies at 81 The writers did just that, according to Jesse Metcalfe, who plays Bobby’s son, Christopher Ewing. "J.R.’s death really sets in motion a very mysterious, compelling storyline that brings a lot of interesting characters together," Metcalfe says. That's right: It's "who shot J.R." for the second time around. But this time, there's no summer cliffhanger to ponder: Executive producer Michael Robin says the answer will be revealed by end of episode 15. In the meantime, expect to see J.R.’s son, John Ross (Josh Henderson) struggling to solve his father’s murder. "John Ross is deeply impacted by the loss of his father," Metcalfe says. "He’s becoming very angry and volatile, and wants revenge. So Christopher keeps a watchful eye over him to make sure he doesn’t do anything he might regret." The loss of the love of her life will also cause Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) to make a choice that will change her life going forward: it will drive her to have a drink for the first time in 30 years. But executive producer Cynthia Cidre assures us that the issue will be handled in a classy way. "It won't be Aqua Velva & homelessness," Cidre says. "J.R.’s Masterpiece" airs at 9 PM ET/PT on TNT.
