Amy Sedaris Joins Ben Stiller and Benicio Del Toro in Apple TV’s ‘Protective Custody’

Amy Sedaris is joining the cast of Protective Custody, the upcoming Apple TV comedy starring Ben Stiller and Benicio Del Toro.

Sedaris will appear alongside Stiller, who leads the series, and Del Toro, who was previously announced as part of the ensemble. Details about Sedaris’ character are currently being kept under wraps.

Protective Custody centers on a disgraced financier played by Stiller who is accused of committing massive financial fraud. After being placed in protective custody, he must navigate the complicated politics of prison life while attempting to repair his reputation and deal with the consequences of his actions as he awaits trial.

The series comes from Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill creator Mike Judge, who is co-writing the show with Steve Hely and Dave King. The trio will also serve as executive producers and co-showrunners, with Judge attached to direct.

Sedaris brings an extensive comedy background to Protective Custody. She co-created and starred in the cult comedy Strangers with Candy and later led At Home with Amy Sedaris, which earned her two Emmy nominations. She has also lent her voice to BoJack Horseman and appeared in films including Elf, Jennifer’s Body and Puss in Boots.

Her television credits also include appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. She has frequently collaborated with director Jon Favreau and is set to appear in the upcoming Disney+ project Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.

With Stiller, Del Toro and Sedaris now attached, Protective Custody is shaping up to be a notable addition to Apple TV’s comedy lineup.
